First of all, if $13 microphones performed "exactly the same as a real dope one", those 'real expensive, real dope ones' wouldn't exist. No matter how hard you squeeze a turd, it will never turn into a diamond.
Now, about your question... Cool Edit has nothing to do with making 'professional sounding vocals'. What does matter is the quality of your microphone and the quality of the amplifiers, converters and cables your mic's signal runs thru. Once you have a good solid signal path, you can record 'professional sounding' vocal takes. After that you enter an entirely new process called mixing, where you can either make those vocals sound great or completely ruin them. Mixing is an ART and if you want to be good at it (much less great), you need to experiment and learn the art itself.
The right way to go about asking your question is to mix something and post the audio in the AUDIO LINK thread, then ask if anyone has any suggestions to make it sound better.
