What kind of artists have been consistantly good through their entire career?

Tupac got consistantly better, but his first couple albums were average at best. Eminem was consistantly good until Encore came out. Lynch was good until EBK4 dropped. A Tribe Called Quest fell off with the Love Movement. Bone fell off too.

What artists have been consistantly producing high quality albums from the beginning to the end of their career? The only artists I can think of offhand are Outkast - From Southernplayalisticadillacmusic to Speakerboxxx/The Love Below. I might add Do or Die to that list also, but that's just an opinion.

They definately sold out with Speakerboxxx, but its still a good album IMO. I forgot about Tech N9ne when I was postin that too.

Not many I can think of though - I'll have to go home and run through my CDs and see what I can figure out.

Yo my bad man haha. I'm in the same boat - 19 minutes of work left, and my brain shut off about 20 minutes ago. That's why I posted up the topic - hopefully somebody will think for me.

Mc eith was good up until his third release as Mc Eiht, CMW though all day every cd they made was raw. Eith was tight with we come strapped and death threats but after that he slowly fell off.

its not that they sold out...it was just the fact that the album didnt live up to peoples expectations. people were expecting a "typical outkast album" (whatever that means)...and they got the opposite. and after all these years the fans still havent caught on...outkast has be experimental from day one. theve been mixing elements of rock, funk, and electronic music for years...expect to get something "new" every album..."new" doesnt always equal "sell out"

but to answer the question about consistant artists:
Masta Ace
Royce Da 59
Ghostface Killa
Tech N9ne
Trick Daddy
Cormega
Scarface
the whole Justice League camp - "niggas is sleeping on these cats"
Ludacris

...I will agree that Outkast did not sell out with Speakerboxx...if anything they "sold out" with their first album...how so? They had massive skills, yet catered to the wishes of their label by coming out on strictly some pimp/gangsta shit...when they're not completely that...they are experimental by nature and the first album was the least experimental...

...as for picking consistently good artists...its difficult, because artists who have at least five albums are bound to put out one that stands out as being not as good as the others......so each artist is debateable...

...my picks...

...EPMD...
...Dr Dre...
...Tribe...(Love Movement still had 5-6 bangers)...
...Beastie Boys...
...Dj Quik...
...E-40...
...Geto Boys...

Justice League someone put me on Iam always down to hear new music.
Basically, the Justice League is a 12 man crew (consisting of groups, producers and soloists) out of North Carolina (not sure all members are from N.C though)...they make that soulfull type of music in the same vein as Slum Village, Pete Rock and A Tribe Called Quest.

the most popular group from the Justice League camp is Little Brother...a three man group consisting of two emcees: Phonte and Big Pooh and a dj/producer: 9th Wonder.

here is some links to the Justice League artists:

Yup Justice League is tight. Little Brothers CD is the tightest to me. For those that dont knwo about them, you probabl heard 9th wonders production opn Jay-Z's The Black Album.
