Right now i use a Canon HG20 to shoot my videos (example in my sig). Im thinking of either buying an adapter so i can put lenses onto this camera, or just switching to a 7D, because the cost wouldnt be much more than the adapter set up

what my question is, do you guys know what would be a good set up to have on the 7D for shooting music videos?

ive been looking around the internet and it seems like only things i can find are people using them with $1000+ rigs and $700+ lenses. figured the siccness would hsve some lower budget ideas for me

Lenses are the shit so you really cant compromise their costs LOL...but rigs it depends...I've been trying to find some decent DIY rigs and I found a follow focus on ebay for $130...

But video equipment is just expensive in general...Oh n btw I love my 7D! LOL

just found a video using the 7D and a Canon EF 50mm 1.8

the quality is pretty much what im looking for, and if i searched correctly, the lens isnt very expensive. am i missing something? or is that particular lens inexpensive?

let me know if you find a good DIY rig. thats honestly one of the biggest things stopping me from getting this camera. i dont really have a use for the higher quality video if everything i do needs to be shot on a tripod or its gonna be shakey

and $1000 for a rig just isnt possible right now

for stabilizers I know they can get real simple to where youre basically attaching it to a monopod....sometimes I have my camera attached to my tripod(a light one) and just pick it up and carry the whole thing around LOL. But lenses it really depends on your budget and preferences....some cats will cash out for the L's just because...but as long as you shoot with a F 2.8 or above you should be straight. You can also just rent the lenses too I know Discuss650 was recomending Borrowlenses.com or somethin like that and I heard theyre hella good from other cats too

aight, looks like a small stabilizer would be fairly cheap and will do what i need

anyone care to explain what exactly the mm of a lens is? my assumption is that it is how much the lens will zoom in or something along the lines of that. ive never learned about lenses

I too have been thinking of this, it's between a Panasonic HVX-200, DVX 100 or a DSLR rig, probably Canon because they shit on Nikon's video chip..

I have a nikon 50mm 1.8 i got for cheeeap $40 just would need a camera and adapter for it

This guy (vinny minton) http://vimeo.com/imperialvideo

uses the 5d and 7d

Millimeters are a measure of length. Lens focal lengths are measured in millimeters. There are 25.4mm to an inch

A focal length tells us a lens' magnification. Longer focal lengths, like a 200mm lens, magnify more than a 50mm lens, because the imaginary center of our camera lens is further away from the film or sensor.
