I hope there are many many more remixes to come. An ol school head like me is lovin' this. These younger cats can learn something too about where this music comes from.

spice 1 was shouted out by nas in the original where are they now song. originally nas was doing a remix of that song and many of the cats that were shouted out on that song were doing a verse for the remix. at the time nas was only doing one official remix, but i guess so many rappers wanted to send in verses that nas decided he needed to do several songs.
to make it clear, the original remix was just gonna have cats like rob base, spiderella, red head kingpin, moe dee, and spice 1 on it since he mentioned all of them in the original song. either way, we are very pleased to have rob base on the 90's version of the song and we hope that spice 1 ends up on another yet to be released track

by the way, i just talked to the conscious daughters and they are very excited and honored to be the only bay area rappers chosen to be on the westcoast version of "where are they now"

this is doooope. shows how much unity we lost on the west coast over the years....... we need to get the same vibe back between the bay and l.a.
i feel ya... this track will go down as a classic like "all in the same gang"... good shit with lots of unity

Why is rob base on the 90s version?

Artist: Rob Base
Album: It Takes Two
Year: 1988
as i explained earlier, nas was originaly only making one remix and the rappers on that track were all gonna be ones that nas shouted out on the original song "where are they now" thats why rob base, red head kingpin, spinderella were all on that song. i'm guessing that so many other rap pioneers wanted to be on the song so nas decided to do a few more mixes including the westcoast version as well as the 80's version. nas has said many times that those 90's cats were the ones he grew up on so that was the reason he shouted them out in the first place. i give him mad respect for giving props to cats that opened the door for him and so many other emcees that are in the game today.
