Mitch Canham their catcher and possibly best player from Lake Stevens WA.
Jorge Reyes their winning pitcher in game 1 and the CWS MVP is from Harden WA (an extremely poor overwhelmingly Mexican town on the east side of the state).
These guys through a lot of their interviews would say things like "this is for the whole Northwest, we play ball extremely well out there." They were clearly of the "Repping" mentality.
A lot of people don't know this, but Washington is a Top 5 baseball state (in terms of the rate at which they produce Major League Baseball players). California is the clear #1 but we're right in the mix with Florida, Georgia & Arizona in that top 5. I played against 5 future Major League Players while playing HS summer ball in the Seattle metro area. We do baseball extremely well in Washington, and Oregon's rate will go up as well b/c there are a few future pro players from Oregon on the Beavers.
Congratulations to OSU, now it's time for Kenny Knutsen to stop letting all of the talent slip away (of the 34 MLB players from Washington, only 2 of them attended UW, most signed straight out of HS or went other places). The UW Program is good but not good enough given the in-state talent. But this thread is about Oregon State, congratulations to them what an accomplishment.
