I'm looking for a good translation of either of these books. Right now I am reading the James Legge translation of the Tao Te Ching, but I'm questioning the accuracy of it, so I'd like another copy. And I've never read the Analects before. Suggestions anyone?

Tao Te Ching (a new english version) By: Stephen Mitchell

Pocket edition

Thats the one I have and its the shit.

My favorit:

Do you want to improve the world?
I don't think it can be done.

The world is sacred.
It can't be improved.
If you tamper with it, you'll ruin it.
If you treat it like an object, you'll lose it.

There is a time for being ahead, a time for being behind;
a time for being in motion, a time for being at rest;
a time for being vigorous, a time fore being exhausted;
a time for being safe, a time for being in danger.

The Master sees things as they are, without trying to control them.
She lets them go their own way and resides at the center of the circle.

Thats a tough one, theres lots of interpretations of the analects, but the authors are usually biast in some way and as far as I know, the only literal translations are in French. I'll keep my eyes and ears open - if you find any can you let me know? Thanks

I have a copy of the Lao Tzu translated by DC Lau. It's pretty good, I have a copy of the Analects somewhere, if I find it I'll drop the translators name mayn
