I'm basically technologically illiterate, so this question may sound stupid. I'm trying to contact someone selling a pool table on Craigslist, but my emails are not going through. I started suspecting something when another ad was made for the same pool table, but no responses to my emails. So I made an ad, responded to it, but nothing showed up in my inbox.

Why can't I send emails on Craigslist? I can send emails to other people. But when I go on there, hit the reply button, type in the two words, and then copy and paste the email address into my email, it does not go through. I don't get an email saying it was undeliverable. It seems like I send them, but they never get to the person. Does anyone know what I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated.

To reply to a post via email:

Most posts display an email address in the upper left corner, below the title and date, that is formatted in one of two ways:

A regular email address, such as [email protected] (replies are sent directly to the poster's email address)
An anonymous craigslist email address, such as [email protected] (replies are forwarded by craigslist to the poster's actual email address)

To reply, you can either:

Click on the highlighted email address, which should open your email application, or
Copy the address (usually by right-clicking and selecting "Copy Email Address") and paste it into your email application.

For posts in the personals you will see a "Reply to This Post" button. To see the addresses to reply to the post, click on this and fill out the captcha.

Note: When you reply to a post, your email address will be visible to the recipient. If you prefer to remain anonymous, consider using an email address that does not contain your name or other identifying information. (Many users set up web-based email accounts through providers like Yahoo! or Gmail for this purpose.)

Alternative contact methods:

If the poster does not wish to be contacted via email, you may see "Reply to: see below" in place of an email address.

Look for a phone number, fax number, website address, or street address in the body of the posting.
If the post does not contain any contact info, you can notify the poster by clicking the "send note" button at the bottom of the post.

Troubleshooting Tips:

If you get an error message when you click on the highlighted email address, or if you do not recognize the email program that opens when you click that link, simply cut-and-paste the email address into a new message in your usual email application.

If your reply comes back to you with an "undeliverable" message, please check the following:

Is the ad still posted on the site? The anonymous craigslist email address will forward email messages to the poster only while the ad is active; once an ad is removed from the listings, replies will bounce back.)
Did you spell the email address correctly? (Common typos include omitting the hyphens, jobxxxxxxxxxx instead of job-xxxxx-xxxxxxxxxx, or forgetting the 's' after craig and entering craiglist.org instead of craigslist.org.) Copy and pasting email addresses helps prevent this kind of error.
Did you include a large file or image in your reply? (Attachments sent to a craigslist email address cannot exceed 7 megabytes.)

Have you tried sand?
Don't know what you mean by 'sand'.

Read all of that before I posted my question. It doesn't answer my question which is why I asked the question.

yes just copy paste the "[email protected]" looking address to your email, it will get to them.

good luck on your intimate encounter, dont get teh aids
I've been doing that, but nothing. If it does, I hope he doesn't rape me on top of the pool table.

Same thing was happening to me, until I registered lol
I logged in, but that doesn't do anything.

I'm sending emails, but they're just not being delivered or being sent back to me as undeliverable. It's like they just vanish into cyberspace.

First, are you near a beach?

lol.....try a different e-mail service. are you using gmail? try yahoo. or msn. or something else.
I am near a beach as a matter of fact. I've tried different email services.

I'm thinking I must have accidentally turned on some setting on my computer that does not allow emails through Craigslist to go through. What setting it is, I have no idea. I'm probably going to have to pay some computer nerd service $75 to figure it out, and he'll probably come in and click one thing and be done in 30 seconds and look at me like I'm retarded.

Check your junk folder sometimes scams are setup through craigslist for deals that are too good to be true and they will email you saying "sorry I just sold it but I bought it from this website for real cheap" and then post a link to that site, those emails always go to my junk folder. You might just hit up someone who cares not to reply, I have had that happen a few times then they post it again and i'm like "what the heck I emailed you about this already" then they reply "sorry I just sold it"
