Im not that good with computers so peep this out. Last week my dvd-ram stopped detecting discs...for one day. The next day I threw a cd in for fun at it worked. Worked up until this week, and now the same thing is happening again. It keeps saying theres no disc in the drive. My other one works fine, but I cant burn any cds/dvds now. Could this be a simple problem...or am I fucked into buyin a new one?

yeah try updating the drivers, make sure the scsi (scuzi) cable is plugged in right.. or the sata cable..whatever type of cable goes to the back of it inside of the computer.

Internal DVD players, and to a lesser extern internal CD players, are the most unreliable electronics I have ever seen. Some people seem to have fine results with them, but they are the most common problem for computer failures.

You might just need a new one. I hate all the DVD burners I have ever had they all have gone out after a year or less. They will just stop working and they will either spin the disc and tell you that you don't have a cd in or they just wont work.
