As of late I've been going to a studio that uses the *Distressor* and I can honestley say its as good as everybody claims it to be. Makes me want one even more. Even on very high compression settings, its sounds well... almost perfect.

For those on a budget the RNC like moe said cannot be beat for the price.

when tracking with plug in compressors you run the risk of overloading the A-D. if you require hardware look into dbx (266,166,160,1066 and 1046). are you looking for TUBE compression? im assuming this is for a home studio so i wont tell you to get something that costs $2000-$1,673,873.46

View...you got me jealous as fuck with that distressor talk
Shit, when I leave from that lab, and come home to mine, I get depressed too:( lmao...

For real though, it does make a huge difference, I never try to comment on anything that I haven't heard ( unless I trust the source it comes from ) but this thing is just the shit.

man, you're confused...

buy the Empirical Labs Distressor with british mod, or Crane Song Tracker or the vintage DBX 160 VU, or La-2a etc(not avalon) all run over a G...far better then avalon

if you cannot afford that purchase a Summit TLa-50 or FMR Audio RNC...

Look for the ARKANGELZ cd coming soon feat Lynch, Loki, COS, Beta, Sinn and Ne7es of A.O.D plus more... All vocals were compressed by the distressor. Mic's used mostley U-87 and M-147, thru a soundworkshop series 34 ( I think??? ) borard.
