Barry didnt want to retire, he just didnt want to play for the Lions. He has said, and im talking about this up and coming year, that he would consider coming back if the Lions would let him talk to other teams. He retired becase he was still under contract with the Lions and he wanted to play elsewhere, but the Lions wouldnt let him. The organization would rather watch the man retire so close to the record, watch what could be the best running back ever top off a remarkable career, rather then simply give him up. Thats some shady ass shit if you ask me.

or you could look at it this way...that mr. sanders turned his back on the fans in D-town and the rest of the country...b/c he was too stubborn to play for a team he really did'nt want to......as if was the only person in the league on a team that he didn't really like....how about that shady shit

I have thought about that too, and I agree. I dont like or dislike the guy personally, I dont know him, but that is some shady shit as well. I think he just wants to win though, or maybe he see's moreopportunity to show what he has on another team, like maybe getting on a team with a better o-line. In any case, it is just as shady as the team screwing him over.

WTF!!! Are you fuccin crazy??? C'mon man we are talkin about the MUTHA FUCCIN LIONS.............No1 in there right mind would ever wanna play for them...................If I was a great running bacc like Barry I would think eventually I would deserve to play for a winning team..........And about Barry being to old that bullshit I think he could jump bacc into the NFL without losing a step.............Barry in my opinion was and still is the best running bacc of all time

It's not that he really wanted to leave the lions at all, but he felt the organization was not commited to winning. Who doesn't want to play for a winner. The lions quite possible have the worst managment in professional sports. If you have a player of his caliber, don't be a cheapskate and doing everything you can to be a winner...provide him with some support.

Also you can take into account, the lions have always had a shitty offense and no O-Line, plus they ran a 3 receiver set...so Barry racked up all those yards playing 90% of the time without a fullback to block. He had unmeasurable talent, his "team" was always terrible...Who doesn't want to win????? Lion fans shouldn't be mad at him, they should be mad at the team...
