No. 16 Florida State at North Carolina State
One of the major threats to FSU winning the division is NCSU, who has one of the best QB's that no one talks about...Russel Wilson. On the other side, Ponder has not played to expectations, and has even looked down right mediocre in a few games this year. Both will have to play to their ability in order to win. FSU's pass rush is going to need to track down Wilson before he hurts them in a number of ways.
Louisville at Pittsburgh
Pitt is first in the Big East, but that doesn't seem to hold much water these days. Pitt is 2-0, but there are 5 other teams one game behind them, including Louisville. Bilal Powell, who is is 4th in the nation in rushing yards, helps power this offense. Pitt counters with Dion Lewis and Ray Graham, both SO.
Northern Illinois at Western Michigan
NI is a top the MAC West, but there are several teams looking to knock them off, including the Broncos. NI brings a very potent rushing attack in Spann and Harnish, who have combined for over 1300 yds. BTW, Harnish is a QB, and has also thrown for 1200+ yards. WMU brings in a potent passing attack, lead by Alex Carder, who has nearly 2000 yds passing and 15 TD's already. Somewhere, defense is going to have to slow these guys down.
No. 5 Michigan State at No. 18 Iowa
MSU has found ways to win this year, and Iowa seems to find ways to lose. Cousins has been nothing short of amazing for MSU, while the defense has come through in the clutch. Iowa's Stanzi has done much of the same, but no one seems to be talking about him. Each team has a impact player on defense that will most likely be a first round draft pick: Clayborn for Iowa and Jones for MSU. The Spartans are the only undefeated team in the B10 and they dont have to play tOSU this year.
Florida vs. Georgia
Although both teams are mediocre, the SEC East is wide open this year, and a win here helps put either team in contention, although UGA needs SC to drop one more and win out in order to win it. Florida has yet to play SC, so a win here makes for an intriguing matchup in a couple of weeks. Brantley hasnt looked great this year, but getting Demps back is HUGE for coach Meyers. Murray for UGA has looked good thi syear, especially for a freshman. They have won 3 in a row, scoring 40 points or more in each of those games, after dropping 4 straight. This game is played on Jacksonville and is a big time rivalry game.
No. 1 Auburn at Mississippi
Being number 1 may not be all its cracked up to be: they have lost on the road the last 3 weeks in a row. Sure, Ole Miss may not be Mizzou, but a team with Masoli can be dangerous. Cam Newton looks to add to his Heisman run, as he has climbed the ranks to be the leader for the award.
No. 25 Baylor at Texas
No, this is not a typo. Baylor IS ranked, and Texas IS NOT. When was the last time this happened? Well, Baylor hasn't been ranked since 1993, so that should give you a clue. Even more surprising? Baylor is the top team in the B12S, a half game ahead of Oklahoma. Texas, meanwhile, is in danger of dropping its 3rd straight home game, something that hasnt happened in a very long time. Baylor is having success becuase of the high level of play from SO Griffin III, who is a duel threat.
Washington State at Arizona State
WSU has seemingly improved every week, despite losing every game but one. At some point, they are going to win and ASU might be just what they need to do so. Sure, their defense is crappy, but they make plays wen needed. And while their OL is not very good, Jeff Tuel has shown that he can preserver. These two teams were picked to be 9th and 10th in the Pac...WSU can put themselves in the driver seat to be 9th. Hooray?
No. 2 Oregon at USC
Oregon, on paper, is better than USC. However, the Ducks have a problem winning in the Coliseum, as they haven't done it the last 3 tries. They boast the number one scoring offense in the nation, as well as being number one in yards....while being 114th in TOP. However, they are scoring MORE POINTS than TOP PER game....that is scary efficient. Matt Barkely is playing better than ever and USC is having a typical running game, but its been their defense that has let them down this year. Well, they have their hands as full as ever this week in trying to slow down an offense that hasn't scored less than 42 points in any game.
LAME GAME OF THE WEEK
William & Mary at North Carolina
Really?
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 6 Missouri at No. 14 Nebraska
This game more or less will decide who wins the B12N. Nebraska has looked pedestrian in some games they shouldn't have this year, but Martinez is going to have to do more of what they did last week to beat a very underrated Mizzou team. Sure, they are #6, but no one expected this. If Gabbert is healthy, Mizzou is very good on offense, but its their defense that has been the most impressive. Can they stop the read option IN Lincoln?
