Disclaimer: There are going to be games that i miss on when i do these threads. There are 50+ games played a week, and games that seemingly shouldn't be close, are. I only pick the ones that i think will be worth a watch, but others may disagree. Feel free to add whatever you would like to these threads.
No. 11 Kansas State at Kansas
One of the more surprising teams in the nation this year is nearing the top 10. It will face a rival that has been anything but good this year in the Jayhawks. Only really here becuase it is a rivalry game, but unless KSU forgets how to play football, KU might be the whipping boy for another Saturday.
Cincinnati at South Florida
USF has stumbled a bit, but its still open in the BE. Cincy comes in at 5-1 and wants to keep climbing the conference to get into a position to win it. BJ Daniels is always a threat to reckon with, and is averaging 5.2 yds RUSHING. Calleros for Cincy is doing some of the same things BJ is, and is a threat to run at any time. As of now, USF is 0-2 in the conference, so this is looking like a must win if they want to stay on the track with the others. A lose here, and they are more than likely done.
Western Michigan at Eastern Michigan
A rivalry game that shows some life in the conference, as both are 2-1. EMU has been REALLY bad over the last several years, but it looks like they have finally gotten some life pumped into them by HC Ron English. The Eagles have the 15th best rushing attack in the nation, with a two headed attack from White and Green (which, oddly enough, are also the school colors. WMU counters with a top 20 passing attack, orchestrated by Alex Carder, who is completing 67% of his passes, going for 16 TD's, which has him top 10 in the nation among QB's. He and WR Jordan White have hooked up 67 times already this year, and has scored 7 TD'.s This game really comes down to who can stop who.
No. 20 Auburn at No. 1 LSU
Auburn is hanging around, causing problems for other teams in the West, and generally making it hard for SEC teams to go undefeated. This week, they will go up against a Matheiu-less LSU, whom was suspended this week along with a few other players. One person who didnt get suspended, is Lee, who has done a very good job keeping this offense going. On the other side, Auburn finally replaced Trotter last week after about 10 passing attempts. Replacing him is Moseley, who did enough to get them the win. Expect Auburn to go to Dyer as much as possible before leaning on Moesley.
No. 22 Georgia Tech at Miami (FL)
For the second week in a row, the mighty GT offense could only muster 21 points against sub-par competition. Miami has one of the best RB's in the nation, but cant seem to put two halves together this year. Slowing down the option is no fun, but UVA and UM found a way to do it, and Miami has superior athletes on the defensive side of the ball. A must win for Miami who is already 1-2 in the Coastal division.
USC at Notre Dame
A old school rivalry game that plays for the Jeweled Shillelagh. ND finally won it last year after losing the previous 4 years. The series has been dominated by USC in the 2000's, but sanctions for the Trojans has brought them back down to earth, and ND is on the rise with Brian Kelly at the helm. Barkley and Woods have hooked up 60 times this year, accounting for 6 or Barkley's 16 TD's. Rees has thrown 7 TD's in the last two games to 0 INT's. He will need to bring that fire into this game and put up those numbers against a suspect USC secondary if they want to get in position to win.
No. 25 Washington at No. 8 Stanford
The last time UW was ranked in 2009 after beating USC, they had to face Stanford in EPA. The ended up losing by 20 points. Of course, this is the new and improved UW, with an offense that has scored 30+ points every game thus far this season, something they have never doen in school history. SO Keith Price has been an pleasant surprises in the Pac-12, leading the conference in TD's (21) and 2nd in passing efficiency (Luck is 1st). Stanford has won 14 in a row, with an average winning margin of nearly 27 points per game in the span, while UW is 9-1 in its last 10 games...right after losing to Stanford 41-0 last year at home. This game will come down to defense, and who can stop who or can cause the most TO's.
Southern Methodist at Southern Miss
Two 5-1 CUSA teams collide here, but more may be at stake for So Miss than SMU. They are 1-1 in the East division and need to keep pace with the co-leaders barring wins from them this weekend. (ECU & Marchall are 1-1, but both have overall losing records). SMU is riding high and McDermott has the Mustang offense clicking at the moment. For SO Miss, Austin Davis hasnt been too shabby himself, throwing for 13 TD's and over 1500 yards midway through the season, and have the offense in the top 20 in scoring in the nation.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 6 Wisconsin at No. 16 Michigan State
The #1 scoring offense in the nation goes up against the #2 scoring defense in the nation in this battle. Wisocnsin has lost the last 3 times its traveled to east Lansing. Of course, they didnt have Heisman candidate Russell Wilson in those games. While Cousins is no Wilson, he has held his own and been efficient. He his going to have to be much more than that if they want to win this game. Wisconsin also boasts a very good defense themselves, while MSU does not have the kind of offense that could come back if down big. This could very well be a preview of the B10CG.
