No. 5 Boise State at Tulsa
This may be the only real tough game left for BSU, which culd easily win out and depending on what happens above them, could put them in the drivers seat to a possible NCG. Tulsa is no pushover and this is away from the Blue Turf. If anything has rang true this year, its that top 10 teams are not immune to loses from unranked opponents.
No. 8 Cincnatini at No. 21 South Florida
USF has slowly but surely climbed into the top 25 at 5-0, showing a stout defense on what maybe the best DLine in hte nation. They lost Grothe, but BJ Daniels has shown some real moxy in his two starts. Cincy wants to take a step forward in the Big East and its NCG hopes by toting Heisman candidate Tony Pike's sensational arm. This game is going to come down to the defense and who has the better one.
No. 20 Oklahoma vs. No. 3 Texas
The Red River Rivalry picks up once again with Texas' NCG and BCS hopes on the line, while Oklahoma will try and bounce back from a loss to the Canes. Texas was a slow starter last week against Colorado, but ending up routing the Buffs. Bradford and McCoy will shoot it out for best QB in the Big 12, and possible draft positions in the 2010 NFL Draft.
No. 11 Iowa at Wisconsin
If one were to look at the boxscore of last weeks UW/tOSU's game, it would appear that UW annihilated tOSU....but that final score says otherwise. UW committed some untimely TO's that turned into TD's and surrendered a KO return for a TD, which ended up burying the Badgers. This week, they will be at home and try to hold onto the ball and beat a very tough Iowa team who is hoping to stay on track for the matchup against tOSU in Nov.
Northwestern at Michigan State
This is a big game for MSU, as they are a one loss team in the Big 10 and just need to win and hope they can knock off some big boys in the conference to win the Big 10. They do not get tOSU, but they do get Iowa and Penn State.
Wyoming at Air Force
Why is this game in here? Well, for the first time in a long time, Wymoing is 4-2 halfway through the season. They have only had 2 winning seasons in the last decade, but new coach Dave Christensen has them playing hard. They are 2-0 in the MWC, tied with BYU.
Arkansas at No. 1 Florida
UF just needs to win and they can worry about Alabama in the SECCG, assuming Bama wins out. Mallett has Arkansas passing like crazy, but their defense is something to be desired, even though they nearly shutout Auburn's offense just a week ago. Playing in the Swamp just may be too much for the Razorbacks to overcome.
No. 6 USC at No. 25 Notre Dame
ND has fought and clawed its way into the top 25, while USC looks to back in the mix of the NCG. Clausen has been near perfect this year, but he has not faced a defense like USC yet. Barkely already impressed at tOSU, now he can add to that with a win over a hated rival.
Minnesota at No. 14 Penn State
A fight to stay afloat in the Big 10 race as Decker comes into Happy Valley to face off with the White Out.
California at UCLA
Both teams are trying to find their identity and this will be a good stepping stone for one of these teams. UCLA's offense is near non-existent, while Cal's has completely disappeared altogether. UCLA does have a good defense, while Cal['s has been torched for 76 points over the last 2 games. Who will step out and up?
Hawaii at Idaho
Why is Idaho in here? The same reason Wyoming is: the Vandals are off to their best start in a very long time and are undefeated in WAC play. One more win, and they are bowl eligible.
No. 22 South Carolina at No. 2 Alabama
USC has shown that their D can play with anyone...but their offense could use some help. Alabama was a bit slow getting started last week against Ole Miss and seemed sluggish. McElroy will give all the Gamecocks can handle and then some, while Engram will pound the turf and test the Dline of USC. This is a big test for them, and having a guy like Eric Norwood at LB is a good way to slow down both Engram and McElroy.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 4 Virginia Tech at No. 19 Georgia Tech
Big time ACC Coastal division matchup. GT didnt show much defense in the 1st half against FSU, but clamped down in the 2nd half to win by 5 in a wild game. VT completely crushed BC with an amazing display of defense that left BC with 5 passing yards and negative rushing yards at halftime. The big question will be can VT stop the triple option and can GT slow down Tyrod Taylor. If GT wins, they will need Miami to lose, as they own the tie breaker between the two.
