California at Nevada
Two high powered offenses clash in Nevada. Riley is hoping to finally put together a full season of good Qb'n, and Kaepernick hopes to run and throw all over a fairly good Cal defense. It seems like Nevada is picked to challenge the WAC the last few years, but can never really put it together. A win here would be a HUGE booster in confidence.
No. 12 Arkansas at Georgia
Arkansas somehow got pre-ranked high and are now near-cracking the top 10. Georgia lost to a very good defensive team in SC, but get to stay home to try and rebound. Freshman Murray did pretty good, but needs to step it up in order to keep pace with Mallett.
Georgia Tech at North Carolina
Both teams are in need of a redemption game, for different reasons. The ACC Atlantic looks pretty crummy right now, and someone is going to have to step up and prove they want to win it. UNC lost to a average LSU team, but did so because 8 starters were missing. GT lost to a very mediocre, and rebuilding, KU team.
No. 8 Nebraska at Washington
Nebraska has been ballhawking the last 2 weeks, albeit to lesser opponents. Now, they get out of their comfort zone, and face Locker in Seattle at a very loud Husky Stadium. So far, no one has been able to stop frosh QB Martinez for Nebraska, but WKU and Idaho are not necessarily big shot D teams. The read-option offense will need to be stopped in order for UW to have a chance at winning this game.
No. 18 USC at Minnesota
Neither of these teams look very good at the moment. Sure, USC is 2-0, but have looked pretty bad in the process. UM lost to a FCS school. Nuff said.
Portland State at No. 5 Oregon
Who was the last team to put 100 on the scoreboard???
Mississippi State at No. 15 LSU
MSU looks much improved this year, with a stout D and a young QB. LSU scraped by a thin UNC squad and could not muster 30 points against a very bad Vandy team. At some point, LSU will be knocked out of the top 25, and this may be the team to do it.
Clemson at No. 16 Auburn
Auburn was poised to be the team in the SEC to emerge this year. SO far, they have beat a young MSU team by 1, and Arkansas State (allowing 26 points in the process). Clemson is rebuilding, but have a very good QB in Parker. Both defenses will need to play at a high level and not let the other offense get momentum.
No. 3 Boise State at Wyoming
Why is this here? Because with the VT loss, BSU doesn't look very impressive anymore. They need to win every single game this year by at LEAST 3 TD's to even get a SNIFF at a NCG chance. Wyoming has some young talent and a new coaching regime, but can they stop Moore?
Fresno State at Utah State
FSU is always in talks of being a good WAC team, but USU seems to be having a coming out party. They hung with Oklahoma and NEARLY pulled it out. Borel is letting the ball fly and SR RB Smith is one of his weapons.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 9 Iowa at No. 24 Arizona
Only matchup of ranked teams this week. Arizona is finally beginning to get it together consistently over the last 2 years, with the defense catching up to the offense. Iowa boasts a physical and fast defense that can come from all angles and positions. They also have SR. QB Stanzi, who has put them on his shoulders when need be.
