Clemson at No. 15 Georgia Tech
ACC match up that pits an uncertain Clemson team up against a GT team favored to win the conference. Dwyer got off to a big start, albeit against inferior competition. But GT also fumbled 5 times. True frosh Kyle Parker looks to lead Clemson, and Spiller is back in the lineup.
Fresno State at Wisconsin
Last year, Wisconsin came in to Fresno as underdogs, and won. This year, FSU is looking for some big time payback. Wisconsin let NIU stick around last week and won by a TD+2. Tolzien looked sharp for the Badgers, but the running game was slow burning.
Pittsburgh at Buffalo
The Big East is up for grabs this year, and Pitt would like to put its claim in. First, they will have to defeat a scrappy Buffalo team that eeked out a win against a much improved UTEP team. With no McCoy, Pitt turns to freshman Deion Lewis, who gobbled up 129 YDS and 6.5 YPC.
Iowa at Iowa State
A rivalry game that is intriguing becuase Iowa, at home, struggled against FCS NIU. They won the game, but it took two blocked FG's in the last 7 seconds to pull it off. Now, they have to march into Ames and face homegrown product and dual threat Austen Arnaud.
No. 18 Notre Dame at Michigan
Both schools are looking to get back on track and now, they go head up. Forcier is named the starter for UM and Clausen finally looked poised for ND. He also has what some consider as the best WR pair in the nation in Golden Tate and Michael Floyd. Pair that with a running game and a much improved defense, and ND looks like they can take UM at home.
Idaho at Washington
The only reason this game is in here, is becuase UW is on the verge of a record: 16 straight loses. They looked very good and better than expected against LSU at home this last weekend, but sloppy play (11 penalties, 2 TO's) was their downfall. Locker seemed to grasp Sarkisian's pro-style offense by the horns and the skill positions looked sharp, especially Chris Polk and true freshman James Johnson.
UCLA at Tennessee
Rematch from last year where UCLA knocked off a then ranked UT team, who ended up being mediocre. This year, Tennessee is trying to bounce back and Crompton looked great against a really bad WKU team. UCLA took a long time to get going against SDST, but ended up blowing them out.
Vanderbilt at No. 11 LSU
LSU looked a bit sluggish on D against a UW team that was lost 15 games in a row, but edged them out for a win in a game they very well should or could have lost. Now, they are at home and Jefferson looks to get after a Vandy team that took out a FCS team behind to freshman RB's in Stacy and Norman who combined for 238 YDS and 3 TD's.
Purdue at Oregon
Important for Purdue becuase they want to win a tougher Big 10 this year with OSU, MSU, and PSU all ahead of them, and an improved UM. Oregon looked completely lost at BSU and the game ended ugly, as Blount threw a punch at BSU DE Hout and is now gone for the year. Masoli could not get anything going, and BSU moved the ball at will against Oregon's D. They had only 6 first downs all game, and didn't break 100 total yards until the end of the 3rd quarter. Purdue;s defense allowed Toledo to score 31, but they put up 52 points of their own behind Bolden's 234 YDS and 2 TD's.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 3 USC at No. 8 Ohio State
Classic Pac-10/Big 10 match up that pits two top 10 teams at each other necks This is a rematch from last year, in which USC pummeled OSU at home. Now, they march into The Horseshoe, where Navy nearly beat the Buckeyes just a week ago. USC is not Navy, but is putting the game in the hands of freshman Matt Barkley, who did a very nice job managing the game against SJST. He gets help from at least 4 Rb's that could start on any team in the nation, but the standout is Joe McKnight.
