No. 23 Pittsburgh at Connecticut
No real implications here but a higher bowl bid for each team.
East Carolina at Tulsa
For the C-USA title. Tulsa backed in due to Houston's loss to Rice last week. ECU dominated the East division and look to win the title for the first time. Since joining the C-USA and first conference title since 1978 when they won the SCC title. Tulsa won the C-USA in 2005.
Navy vs. Army
One of the oldest rivalries around and also can be one of the most boring. Expect to see 10 passes combined by these two teams and about 600 yards rushing.
Washington at California
Only reason this is here…is because UW will go 0-12, the only BCS team to do so and the only winless team in the FBS this year.
No. 5 USC at UCLA
Most likely will not be much of a rivalry THIS year, as USC is light years ahead of UCLA talent wise. However, both Neuheisel and Carroll are trying to restore old traditions by both wearing home uniforms. UCLA and USC both have given up a first half TO to do so.
Arizona State at Arizona
The Duel in the Desert is here, and this time, ASU is the underdog. The winner receives the Territorial Cup, which some consider as the oldest rival trophy in the NCAA. If ASU wins, they will be bowl eligible. The Wildcats are already bowl eligible.
GAMES OF THE WEEK
No. 12 Ball State vs. Buffalo
BSU goes up against surprising Buffalo for the MACC. Unfortunate for BSU, they will most likely be left out of the BCS bowl bidding due to Utah being unbeaten and ranked in the top 10.
No. 17 Boston College vs. No. 25 Virginia Tech
ACCCG is finally here and will once and for all sort out the crazy ACC and send one of the winners to the orange bowl. If VT wins, it could be the lowest ranked ACC team ever to make it a BCS bowl (Maryland was ranked #23 in 2002). VT has looked stagnant on offense for much of the year, and Chris Crane is out for BC, who has a top 10 defense. Expect Davis and the two freshman RB’s for BC to set up the
pass.
No. 20 Missouri vs. No. 2 Oklahoma
After much controversy, Oklahoma makes it to the Big 12 CG to face Mizzou. OU got in over Texas, whom they lost to a neutral field. Mizzou comes in fresh off a loss to rival Kansas and is looking to upset the Sooners and represent the Big 12 in the Fiesta Bowl. If Oklahoma wins, they will go to the NCG to face either Florida or Alabama.
No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 4 Florida
The grand daddy of them all will put one of these two teams in the NCG to possibly face Oklahoma. Because the winner of the SEC has NCG implications, this leaves the Sugar bowl with an at-large pick, which could still take one of the two teams. Alabama has a stiff defense and ride Coffee for offense, while Florida brings in the fastest flankers in the game with arguably the best QB in the nation.
