No. 22 Cincinnati at Louisville
Cincy controls its own destiny in the Big East with the win over WVU last week and an upcoming game with the other leader, Pitt next week. First, they must fight through a struggling Louisville team in Louisville.
Notre Dame at Navy
This is the longest continuous played rivalry game in Div.1-A football, standing at 80 straight games played. At one point, ND had won 43 straight games, the longest streak ever over any rival in college football. Navy fields a descent team this year and ND has inconsistent all year long.
No. 25 South Carolina at No. 4 Florida
Florida at home against team that is not as good as them would see automatic win to most, but its Spurrier coming back to the Swamp fielding his defensive charged Gamecocks. Florida has been steam rolling everyone since the loss to Ole Miss and doesn’t show any signs of slowing down. This one could get ugly early, or be a showdown that comes down to the final minutes.
No. 17 Brigham Young at Air Force
Air Force has an outside chance of winning the MWC and BYU controls their own destiny as these two teams clash. Hall has looked like a Heisman candidate for BYU, throwing for over 3,000 yards, 32 TD/7 INT’s, and a 71% completion percentage. Air Force brings in their patented flexbone offense that throws for only 85 yards a game.
California at Oregon State
Had Cal won against USC, this game would mean a lot more for both teams; however, it means more to OSU than it does to Cal now, as OSU can win out and take the Pac-10 title and get invited to the RB; or drop a game, win the Pac, and possibly get passed up by USC for the RB.
No. 6 USC at Stanford
We all saw what happened last year, but this isn’t 2007. USC’s defense has been suffocating and Stanford isn’t the huge underdog it was a year ago. USC needs to win out and hope for a OSU lose to have a chance of going back to the RB.
Boston College at No. 19 Florida State
Last year, FSU played spoiler to BC’s possible NCG chances by knocking them off AT Chestnut Hill. This year, this game doesn’t have as much riding on it, but both teams are fighting to win their respective divisions.
UCLA at Washington
This game is only here because Rick Neuheisel makes his return to UW for the first time since leaving the program in shambles in 2002. UW has not had a winning season since he left, and is looming over a possible winless season with two games left after UCLA, including the Apple Cup, which will field the two worst teams in the Pac-10 and in the nation.
GAME OF THE WEEK
Virginia Tech at Miami (FL)
This game is huge and will give the winner a heads up in the Coastal division of the ACC. If VT wins this and wins out, and UNC does not get another loss, VT will go to the ACCCG. If Miami wins out, they would need UNC to drop one, as UNC beat them earlier this year. UNC plays Maryland this week, which is not in their division.
