Florida State at North Carolina
FSU has a great offense and a bad defense. UNC has a very good defense and a terrible offense. Which one will give in? FSU uncharacteristically has given up a lot of points this year and Yates seems to have regressed and not fully recovered from his injury last year.
No. 12 Georgia Tech at Virginia
UVA started 0-3 and looked hapless, but has won 3 straight and is atop the Coastal division. GT just topped #4 VT and looks to take over that spot this week and hope that Miami stumbles somewhere and win that division.
Minnesota at No. 19 Ohio State
Pryor has looked borderline awful this year and tOSU lost to an inferior Purdue team last week. Minny got shutout by a very good PSU team and have to go up against another tough D this week. tOSU may already be out of the Big Ten race.
South Florida at No. 20 Pittsburgh
Pitt leads the Big East, but USF's D hopes to slow down the Panthers and freshman sensation Dion Lewis. Cincy beat up on USF last week and another loss could completely take them out of the race for the conference championship.
Connecticut at No. 23 West Virginia
Just like USF, UConn is in do-or-die mode, as another loss would most likely take them out of contention. WVU has found its legs and are playing very well behind Senior Jarrett Brown, who got knocked out of last week's game and may or may not play this week.
No. 11 Oregon at Washington
Oregon has owned the Huskies the last 5 times, including a shellacking last year in Eugene that led to a winless year for the Huskies. This year, its a different team that can actual compete, as the Cardiac Kids will try to win over a top conference foe for the 2nd time. Chip has not said if Masoli will start or not, as he is day-to-day, but practicing. Oregon D has been ferocious and stopping Jake Locker will be their #1 priority.
No. 13 Penn State at Michigan
Penn State has had the D all year, but lost a lot of weapons on offense and it is showing. Michigan has lost two extremely close conference games and is already down 2. Forcier was barely used after getting injured in the Iowa game but is expected to start.
Boston College at Notre Dame
Rivalry game between two catholic institutions. ND lost a heartbreaker last week to another rival USC and BC tore NCST apart. Shinskie has looked great so far for BC, but its Clasuen's play that has impressed NFL scouts. This game is merely for bragging rights.
Idaho at Nevada
Idaho is 6-1 and is bowl eligible already. Nevada hasn't played to its preseason potential, but seemed to have turned a corner, winning the last 3 games, albeit to inferior competition. Can Idaho stop Kaepernick? Which Enderle will show up? Does BSU have to actually worry about the Vandals?
No. 6 Iowa at Michigan State
MSU has won three games in a row after losing three in a row and look to do what UM couldn't do: take out Iowa. Iowa has looked OK on offense, but their D has been the star. MSU's Cousin has been sufficient, but he may need to be great against Iowa'a front four in order to pull off the shocker.
No. 3 Texas at Missouri
UT struggled big time against OU even though they won. Mizzou has dropped two in a row, including a meltdown rival Nebraska in which they probably should have won. Mizzou does not have the defense OU has, but they have a better offense and UT's front secondary will be busy.
Oregon State at No. 7 USC
OSU has beaten USC twice in the last 3 years and hope to repeat that magic again this year. The Rodger's brothers have been carrying the team, but Canfield has also been extremely efficient in his passing. USC is coming off a huge emotional wave after beating rival ND last week and may have left them a bit spent. If OSU can get pressure on frosh Barkley, they could very well be in that game all day, even though USC is favored by 3 TD's.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 8 TCU at No. 16 Brigham Young
This game has a lot of implications attached to it, as TCU, with a win, could possibly take over BSU's place as the top non-AQ conference team in the nation. If BYU wins, it potentially puts them back in the BCS picture even after their debacle against FSU AT HOME. It would also potentially set up huge rivalry game with UTAH at the end of the year. Whoever loses may be out of the conference title picture for good.
