No. 25 West Virginia at No. 5 Cincinnati
If WVU wants a crack at the Big East title, it starts here. They would then need to beat Pitt next week. WVU has put together a great season under the radar. However, Cincy has been impressive so far this year, and they will go to battle with back QB Zach Collaros who has done a great job for injured Tony Pike. Cincy will continue to push for a possible NCG birth if they can win out.
No. 7 Georgia Tech at Duke
Anything can happen in the ACC as we have seen over the season. As of right now, GT is in the drivers seat to win the Coastal division. If Duke can find a way to win, it would make life in Coastal a whole lot stranger, as Miami has already beat them and would put them at the top with Duke and Miami squaring off next week. Thadeus Lewis has been brilliant for Duke and they will need him to make plays while the defense attempts to stop the Nesbitt and the triple option.
Missouri at Kansas State
KSU leads the Big 12 North with Nebraska on their heels. Mizzou has flopped in conference play, but KSU is no Goliath themselves. If KSU can win, and Nebraska wins, it puts the Big 12 North on the line next week.
Stanford at No. 9 USC
We all know what Stanford did in 2007....can they repeat it? This year it may not be such a shocker, as Stanford is MUCH improved while USC is on the ropes a bit. Gerhart may be the best RB in the Pac, and maybe the nation, while the frosh Andrew Luck has been nothing short of amazing. USC's offense seems to be struggling a bit, as is their defense. As it is right now, the Pac-10 will get one BCS bowl birth, and depending on what happens the way out, it could be one of 5 different teams.
No. 14 Miami (FL) at North Carolina
UNC has been inconsistent all year, but it has been their defense that has helped them win games. Miami has been a shaky top 15 team and they need to continue to win and hope GT slips up somewhere to win the Coastal. Jacorry Harris has fallen out of Heisman contention, but he makes the engine go. UNC needs to find something on offense and hope their defense can hold up to ruin Miami's chances.
Nebraska at Kansas
As of right now, KSU leads the Big 12 North, but Nebraska is right on their heels. If they both win, it sets up a showdown next week in Lincoln that would be crazy. The defense will have to make plays against a high powered offense with Reesing behind it, even though they have lost 4 games in a row and only scoring more than 21 points only once in that stretch.
Fresno State at Nevada
The Wolfpack had a very inauspicious start to the season. They were predicted to compete for the WAC, but lost their first three games, including a loss to Colorado State and only putting up 41 in that span. Since then, they have won 6 in a row and scored more than 60 points three times. They lead the WAC and look to challenge BSU at the end of the season. However, they need to get past FSU, who also had a rocky start, going 1-3 in their first 4 game,s but reeling off 5 straight wins. They already lost to BSU, so they can only hope to win out and BSU fumbles two games.
No. 17 Arizona at California
Nick Foles has done nothing but win since he became the starter, and only lost on a controversial play at UW. As of right now, the Pac-10 is still undecided, with 5 of the 10 teams vying for a Rose Bowl birth and Arizona waiting for a matchup against Oregon next week. However, they will need to take care of a Best-less Cal team who has still yet to find themselves on both sides of the ball. If AZ's defense can stop Vereen and force Riley to throw, it will be a long day for Cal.
No. 16 Utah at No. 4 TCU
This could have been the game of the week, but Utah has benched Terrence Cain (even though he is 6-1 as a starter) in favor for freshman Jordan Wynn, who presents a deep threat but lacks experience. TCU is a stingy defense and does not like to give up yards on the ground. Utah hopes to loosen that up with a deep threat. Utah has beaten TCU 5 of the last 6 times.
GAME OF THE WEEK
No. 10 Iowa at No. 11 Ohio State
This more or less decided the Big 10 winner, as both teams have one loss in conference and PSU already has two loses. There is the tOSU/UM game next week, but as poorly as UM has played down the stretch, one would have to think tOSU can win out. However, tOSU has been a bit inconsistent themselves, so the Big 10 is still up for grabs. In fact, if tOSU loses out and Iowa loses out, while PSU wins out, PSU will win the Big 10 and go to the Rose Bowl. As for this game, with Stanzi out, Iowa will need to find an offense to help out their very stingy defense, who looks to stop Pryor, Terrelle has played better since being criticized and if they can run the ball effectively, it will be a long day for Iowa.
