Clipping/Distortion in new Metallica album!

I don't listen to Metallica. I found this news worthy though. I have never heard of a major band having a problem like this.

Those of you keeping an eye on the "Loudness Wars" may be interested by current discussions on the Metallica forums. Fans have been complaining bitterly about the extreme clipping distortion on the new album "Death Magnetic" - it's clearly audible on the previews in iTunes, for example - and the finger has been pointed at Ted Jensen, head engineer at Sterling Sound, who mastered the album...CONTINUED..

Funny thing is if you buy it for guitar hero it has a working dynamic range

everyone squashes the shit out of these new mainstream studio albums, its crazy. If i can get original recordings on CD from my favorite old bands from the 80s i always go for them over the digitally remastered ones that sound like shit.
