so one of the engineers has bought a few drones. and my buddy just score 1200 bucks off of fantasy football and he just bought a drone. cool story
any of you out there planning on copping one?
I was gonna buy one for my kid for Christmas but I figured $600 down the drain because he'd use it once then it'd sit in his closet just like his helicopter & the multiple remote control cars I've bought him over the years.

I got an off brand $60 parrot drone for my B-day. It didn't have gyro stabilization so the fucker was real tricky to fly. Second time I flew it I was on a big clearing on some wooded property. Of course I hit some wind and it went outside the signal and took off, never to be seen again. Some day in 2142 some kid will discover it and watch the video of a stupid fuck losing the drone. I've had a few choppers and gliders and most of the RC stuff is pretty tricky to fly especially if you have any kind of air current.

I definitely know you can't fly them near SFO. I think recently there was even a drone that crashed into an airplane. You definitely need to have some bars though if you're gonna be flying one. I bet the FAA is monetizing a way to get this under control. Permits/licenses. I know it's illegal to capture aerial footage on a drone and charge for it. You can only charge for the "editing" of the footage.

Ya. I've got two. Got dji phantom vision plus which is dope. Was just under 1500$. Also bought parrot bebop a couple weeks ago for 500$. It's lame in comparison. The bebop crashes on its own n has a weak range.

The laws here are no more than 400ft n the air and not within 3 miles of an airport.

That pic is bebop

I use them for before and after pictures of jobs my company does. Mostly decks. Drones are pretty fuckn cool. I gave my brother n step dad one for Xmas and its basically equivalent to giving em a video camera in 1986. It'll be interesting to see how dope drones will get. The shitty part is they are going to be regulated heavy in the future. Right now it's the Wild West of droning.
