No, Christmas doesn't necessarily make companies look better to stockholders. A stocks price is based primarily off of EXPECTATIONS therefore if sales DON'T markedly increase then they will look bad to stockholders. Only if they beat expectations will they look good in the eyes of the stockholders. But yes, sales from this season do help the balance sheet.

Ah jeeezuz. That's not the reaction I was looking for but thanks for the accounting update smartass. :classic:

Anyhow, back to my original point. Christmas sucks. It is a corporate marketing ploy to get Americans to spend money, not to celebrate the birth of Christ.

We lie to our kids and make them believe in a fake fat white guy that comes down the chimney only to break their hearts down the road and tell them all along it was a farce. That's terrible.

Yup, Xmas sucks. And Dec. 25th isnt even Jesus birthday.

I disagree with the first part....I don't give a shit if I get a lot of stuff.....I just like being around my family....Cause I don't usaully see a lot fo them....

The second part though, is correct.

I suppose it would be a fun holiday for people with "normal" families.....perhaps I am bitter.

But it just seems wasteful....the wrapping paper, the tree, the money, hype of it all. We shouldn't have to make a holiday to show we care or to give to others.

We do a food and toy drive at my station and I'm thinkin yea we're helping for this month, but what about the rest of the year? Those people are forgotten and still go hungry and the kids without toys, etc.

1. My familty isn't "normal" by any means. I just like seeing them.

2. It is wasteful...And I do agree that we shouldn't have to make a holiday to show other we car about them.....You're right about that.

3. People do shit once a year to make themselves feel good...That way they don't feel guilty for not doing anything the other 11 months of the year.

X-Mas, Saint Nicolas = Santa Clause. Point is he was not made up, but the commercial (missed spelled) America made it into more. It's not like we didn't ask for it. That is the job of businesses, to give the public what they want. And its like this in other countries also.

I try not to think about the holiday, just go with the flow. If I feel like giving somebody somethiN, I will.

The santa today does kinda. But back then there accually a St. Nick or St. Nicoli or something like that, I may be wrong on his name. But he was a Saint that used to help people out with gifts and things. But he was a tall skinny guy, not a fat and short dude. You can thank Coca-Cola for the santa we have now.
