I am wondering how enlisted service training works for your Homeland Security Department.

I heard of a military guy that was training in battle fatigues in a bayou near a New Orleans community in heavy rain, and local folx thought he was some kind of psychpath, so they called 911 & he was captured at gunpoint barely missing getting shot by local cops not knowing.

Don't your military exercises near ignorant civilian communities or campgrounds sometimes just look like a war in progress to the untrained eye? How do you deal with local cops?

Please let me know. I got a close uncle who about to be shipped out in the military, and if he's gonna be doing the same type of training in those swamps, he need to be prepared that when it's his turn, he just might get shot at instead of locals just calling the cops. He don't have time to talk rite now, and I am scared I will lose my favorite uncle and never get a chance to see him alive again before he even gets to a real war.

i have never been to the swamp. and i can't answer alot of the questions you have asked. alot of the shit is secret info about training. no i don't work with cops at this point in my career. they bring shit into our base if they find something on the beach that they think we will be interested in. the only cops i have ever really had to talk to were marine patrol cops but that's it. and i have never had an excercise in public where civilians are involved or can even see me, i don't know where you are getting your info. please miss me with these questions. if there are things i think the people on this forum should know, i will say them. and i think for some reason you think you know me, state your name if you think you know me cause anything you have said or asked sure as hell doesn't sound familiar

I don' know you, but I can't reach any military guys I grew up with to ask them.

Sorry to bug you needlessly.

The info was on some program like a discovery channel America's Stupidest Cops or something, and it could have actually happened a long time ago during the last middle East war training, cuz the program looked like a hella old re-run.

I am gonna miss my uncle. I almost bout to sign up just to go with him, cuz he was always my childhood hero. Anyways, obviously I don't get along with cops, and it made me mad to think that trigger happy wet behind the ears rookie cops could come close to jepardizing my uncle's life if he goes into similar training or anybody else's life that is defending our country and our people.

The whole Rodney King thang left a real bitter flavor in my mouth. Do they talk about that at all in New York? Anyways, peace to the soldiers keepin it real and remembering home is still Cali.

cops are always being watched out here, because of 9/11. they don't really beat people up and shit like they do out west. they don't really harrass folks in the city, they some stand up doods. out here on long island, they make like 110,000 dollars a year, for doing absolutely no work, it is complete bullshit. that is not a typo, $110,000 a year after like 8 years. they have nothing but free time on their hands to harrass folks. and no regular civilian police force will be in the swamps, and if they are, they had better let it be known cause they will get dumped on, trust that. and if you sign up now, you won't be out of bootcamp before they send him wherever he goes. they do have a buddy system where you can be sent to the same place i think, but only if you join at the same time. and the training you keep speaking of, doesn't happen as often ask you think, if at all. the civilian cops will be notified of such practices in the area if and when the happen. most trainings are done on military bases for the record, whether it be foreign or domestic

He's already been Army Reserve, and now he's trying to go through the ropes to ultimately become a Green Beret (or a Ranger?), I believe.

I think he also had some chance to do a Navy thang, and never got told what his choices were cuz he got all secret and shit. Maybe he's really just going to jail and is too ashamed to tell me the truth. I grew up idolizing him and he's like a dad to me.

i thought they got rid of the green beret title. the only beret's worn now are the black ones worn by every elisted member of the army,(maybe officers wear them too, i am not sure)
there is still delta force and rangers, both very elite and very respectable. he might not be able to tell even you were he is going or what he is actually in. i know of people who had to up and leave their wife and family without tellin them and were gone for like 8 months on a submarine with no contact with their family. they thought they were dead and the navy wouldn't tell their family if they were dead or alive or where they were, see what the military does to families????? that's why i am getting out. i don't want my wife to go through that shit. i just want to be a regular stand up Christian man and raise good children. i wanted to do the rap thing, but i feel like God may not want me to do that. i have had alot of people tell me they would definately buy my shit if i put out a record, but i don't think that's what God wants me to do you dig?

So what now, you gonna be like Ma$e and be a preacher? You do your thang then, cuz I don't know of any better situation than havin a down homeboy from the street trenches representing the spiritual from knowing how it REALLY is first hand. Don't ya still have 2 years left to go on your enlistment, or do they let you cut yourself loose if you have a change of heart?

lol, mase? never. i am better than he was and 10 times harder, and a better looking guy too, j/k

no, i do still have like 2 years left. i am not out here killing folks, at least not yet. i have had a change of heart as far as alot of things go, but i do still feel like the Lord has completely blessed me with this military experiance. i am doing great and saving alot of money and i am about to advance and get a fat ass raise. i am stationed on land in a seagoing service, granted i worked like 58 hours this week, it's still all good.

and someones testimony always means alot more when they have lived a horrible life and the Lord has intervened and made an example of them. i am a living example. i still have tendencies that i am still trying to shake. like i would love to bust a scrap in the mouth every time i see one from a distance, but i keep my lips shut unless confronted. i am making strides in my religion, but still have a long way to go

Sounds like ya found a good thing, homie. I hope ya don't start to think your new life will be boring, cuz there's a lot more joy to life when you choose to seek out what you feel comes from God in your heart, regardless of anybody else's judgement about how cornball it looks on the outside. Stay strong and fight for your beliefs, cuz those who have gone through the struggle just like you get hopeless without examples of people making it up and out like you.

Can somebody hand me a tissue? I think I'm gonna cry. :)

Damn, I was sittin here all bored wondering how one can get a peek at "the best woman in the world" so I ran a google search with exactly those words. No offense to your fiance, I thought I'd get lucky to see what she's like, but you don't even want to see what popped up first. I was gonna ask which one is your girl, but I don't want to be rude by making a joke about what God brought ya for reals. Do your thang!

I'm not surprised. Thank God your prayers were not unanswered this time around. You've never stopped working hard, and your faith couldn't be stronger. You shouldn't not have someone special to last for a lifetime. Don't ever stop what you're doing, cuz your joy couldn't be more clear, even if you can't describe it fully in words. Doesn't it make your heart not quit smiling all the time? It's not gonna stop for you, cuz real lu never quits. There's no way.
