A war between the two would devastate each country economically. Both countries rely so much on each other which is why a war will never happen and stuff like this is nothing more than politicians flexing their muscles for the public. China needs the US as much as the US needs China.
Military wise it's fun to think about though, how a war would go down. It just depends on what the goal is. If the US military just wanted to do some airstrikes of course they have a big advantage. But if for whatever the reason the goal would be to invade China then that's an unwinnable war (not that there is any realistic reason why the US would want or need to invade, but again it's fun to think about because of how massive China is).
You ever listen to Hardcore History? I recently just finished the 20 hours or so WWI series and man, it's fun to learn about just how complicated a war with millions of soldiers really is, and the complexity with all the allies and treaties between various countries at the time and all the obstacles of mobilizing millions of soldiers cause. So to apply that on the modern times, how insane would an invasion of China be, knowing that China could have millions of soldiers at their disposal. War like that will probably never happen again on that scale as far as sheer numbers go, but again it's fun to imagine.

War's of today would not be measured on number of soldiers. Even 100,000,000 individual soldiers would stand no chance against nuclear bombs or advanced tactical weapons like drones.
Also the US Navy is much larger and more advanced than China's Navy.
China has 1 aircraft carrier (that is a refurbished ship it bought from Ukraine) vs the US's 10 (which are all superior)
Other comparisons include US 3,700 aircraft vs 710 for China.
75 US submarines vs 70 Chinese
I agree with 2-0-Sixx that a war would devastate both countries and would most likely be the end of the world for almost everyone on the planet as result of nuclear fallout, etc.
But on a strictly numerical /theoretical comparison, the US military is far superior to China's.
