More confirmation that man now has the ability to control weather.

"We did it many times last week to increase the rainfall."

"In China, we haven’t done this type of thing on a very large scale yet,"says Zhang during an interview in a west Beijing compound housing five antiaircraft guns used to shoot chemicals into the clouds.

"The Russians have experience creating good weather, and we can learn something from them. We still have two more years for testing. I’m sure our preparations for the Games will go well."

Chinese scientists began researching man-made rain in 1958,

Firefighting is another function; last autumn, authorities in northeast China induced artificial rain to assist 10,000 firefighters battling a massive forest fire in Heilongjiang province.

u kno the russians already have this technology supposedly also.. at a concert (some famous lead singer) said to a guard that it looks like it was gonna rain and the guard assured him it wasnt then sure enough not long after military planes flew through the clouds leaving a trail behind em and then not long after the clouds began to dissipitate (<--sp?)

Great news! :confused: I mean, it's not like the forest fires do anything good for the environment or anything...I swear people are fucking stupid.

kewl video there handbook........maybe it is really some kinda attempt to slow global warming..dunno........i always see clouds that look like the chemtrail things over sacramento, but ive just thought that they were from planes and jets.............very interesting tho, i love reading about shit like this..

ive seen planes with 2 white trails MANY times, and i dont care what it is.
i think this is a bad idea..
yeah forestfires are bad, all they do is destroy everything in there paths and fill the soil with nutrients.. fuckin fires

damn, thats sick..but to be honest. id rather just let weather be, ..i mean it could be coo to alter it on specific days when its needed, but i say let it naturally occur.

That is just jet exhaust, but it is believed to be creating a noticable impact on global warming itself.

Study: Jet exhaust affects earth's temperatures

By The Associated Press

The wispy trails of exhaust that jetliners spew high in the sky form cirrus clouds that have a small, but potentially important effect on ground temperatures, scientists report.

When commercial jet traffic was halted by last fall's terrorist attacks, researchers seized upon the unique opportunity to compare the climate data for the clear skies on Sept. 11-14 against days of normal air traffic when jets streak the sky with contrails.

Their conclusion: Without jets or contrails, the clear skies boosted the temperature swing between daytime highs and nighttime lows by about 3 degrees nationwide.

The temperature swing in the Northeast and Midwest where there is more jet traffic rose as much as 5 degrees. In the South and Southwest it was smaller, partly because the warmer, drier climate produces fewer clouds.

As nice as that would be, it is still a horrible idea. The weather we experience is the result of an extremely complex system of balances, in which changing even one of the variables could destory that balance and create any number of unknown results. Just creating or preventing a rain storm in China, could result in a month long huricane off the coast of Washington for all we know. The weather is already unpredicable and by fucking with it at all, we are getting in way over heads. What happened in The Day After Tommorow if you have seen the movie is not all that outlandish. If we altered one of the jet streams significantly, God knows what could happen....

You are right. I should have clarified what I was trying to say. I didn’t mean to suggest that NY City would be flooded and tanker ships would cruise down Broadway followed by artic wolves, that artic tornados could or would develop, or that the temperature could drop 100’s of degrees in a matter of minutes. I was trying to use the movie as a general example to reference the possible unforeseen severity of weather fluctuations, not the specific conditions or causes of those changes presented in the movie.

Recent findings are beginning to refute the idea that climate changes always occur over long periods. Ice core samples from Greenland and Antarctica have shown that some past significant climate changes have occurred in less than a decade.
