Iam in College and at a time back in my life I was incarcerated(think I spelled it wrong) And I feel bad for those who have been locked up. Not bad like let them out because you do the crime you do the time, I mean a second chance situation. Anyways the subject came up of hiring Ex-Felons so this richy rich broad starts spouting off about how prisoner deserve this and that because they arent good people. but I disagree I think it matters whats in your heart not your prison record when you hit the street again. I dont know leave your opinions.

If ex-felons can't get hired at legal jobs, then there will be an increase in recidivism. It's counterproductive for any society that wishes to reduce crime to limit the opportunities of ex-convicts. And for the woman you were talking with, wait til one of her loved ones gets locked up. Then we'll see if she still argues that "they aren't good people."

Yup. If I cant get a Job Baggin Groceries at minimul than I can always Push Blow. Hell I make more chedder that way.

It depends on the crime and the person for each case. Because if some one just got out from serving ten years for rape you dont want them working as the school Janitor. Like in the case of Michelle Montoya.

They look past certain things and are sticklers on minor offenses. Like it is easier to be rehabilitaed from Major crimes than minor ones.

Where were you @? For how long?

I was locked up in a prison in Ohio for a year because my cousin snitched me out to some shit that I didnt do. I didnt talk so I got hit because of his mouth. Things happen for a reason and I see that now Iam a better person. But underlaying circumstances cause me to acheive like never before. And I know its just a year while ohers are doing life or 25, 15, 10 and even 5. But a year was enough to show me that inside the walls no one there takes care of you except family and friends and some of those turn away because they are cowards. Iam in school now while my cousin works at Target and I could go and fuck him up and I would if he comes to family gatherings but outside of that I have to watch myself because I have already been locked up 3 times so next time might not be so nice. The time before was as an adult and the 1 before that was as a juvenile so I know about the cell. But fuck it Iam tired of that negative nonsense, hence college. Be cool everybody thanks for replying to this post.

I agree with SOLO and Gizmo.

If you take opportunity away from those relieved from prison, how can you expect them to make a positive impact on society. If they can't get a job, even if it is low paying (minimum wage) cart pushing--back breaking work, then they have no choice but to refer back to a life of crime. It's like gorilla warfare, in the sense that, you have to do whatever you can to survive. If no one will employ you, then well, like 50 says, "By any means necessary, I gotta eat". People don't understand that, there are many out there trying to leave a life of crime by getting a job, while they're being denied a job because of their past life of crime.

Has anyone noticed how the questions regarding crime on job applications are getting a little more personal? I remember it used to be, "have you been convicted of a felony within the past 6 months", now it reads, "have you been convicted of a misdemeanor within the past 2 years". I always leave that shit blank, if you wanna know, then find out for your damn self.

Most people don't realize that if you have a single felony - all you have to do is obey the law and stay out of trouble for 7 years and you can have your lawyer expunge the felony from your record.

But niggas nowadays are so stupid they just do what get them their felony in the first place - think the world owes them a special favor and blame the system. Stop feeling sorry for yourself Epidickhead and get a fucking job.
