WE AINT YOUR ORDINARY
(J.Staxxx, Cat Daddy, Mr. Lowery)
2002 Chalkline Records
1. Who? (feat. Explicit fam)
Great cut to start off the album...this track is hard as fuck. J. Staxxx starts off and lays a down dope verse. I don’t kno whos all part of explict fam but they sound real cooh over this track. Both Cat Daddy and Mr. Lowery came tight. This cut is talking about who is gonna have tha shit you need wen the time Is right, whos gots your back/ whos down to roll wen the shit gets thick...Im feelin the hook on this. One of my favorite tracks on the album. 10/10
2. Cold Reality
This was the first single released off the cd…I first heard this cut on Sactownradio, and was really feelin it so I picked up tha album. J. Staxxx starts off, im really feelin his voice, has got a unique sound to it. Cat Daddy has got the second verse, mr. Lowery follows up, and J.Staxxx finishes. Everyone laid it down…The hook is switched up after each verse givin it a different taste each time...another great track. 9/10
3. Asses & Glasses
Tha title says it all…a club type'a track. This shit is dope, all about whats goin down in tha strip/club, playa type shit...Cat Daddy is at it first, but J.staxxx comes in after tha hook and rips shit up, "haters wanna talk up on my name but they bluffin, thick thigh rubbin, fifteens slumpin, peepin out tha crowd for somthin cute that I could bust in, never hoe trustin, playa cause that aint my way, my gyrl don’t swallow but she spitin like an AK"...Cat/Stax spit verses back to back, this track is real dope, feelin the hooks message also...A classic track 10/10
4. 187 Redrum (feat. Young Deviant)
"seven eighty one, seven victims eight bullets one gun" Track is all about killin and tha way shits goin down. Its ither late or im just not hearin right, but I cant make out who's who...all im knowin is that this is a cooh track, aint a favorite but wont skip it. Hook is covered by Staxxx 8/10
5. Hold Up (4.6)
Im really not feelin this hook, which begins tha track, but the more I listen to the song I get use to it, just different soundin I guess. Beat is nothing like it tho, so im not skippin this up. im feelin Cat Daddy’s verses most, everyone comes cooh. Track is a good one overall 6/10
6. Its Time
This is a J.Staxxx solo. Beat is bumpin...track is about doin dirt. "I bustin shots out the glock, ta have you movin like soul train" Stax doesnt flow fast but leaves messages behind his rhymes, which is also why im feelin his verse so much. A slow death type track. hook isnt anything special...but overall, another track im feelin 9/10
7. Everyday Episode (feat. Lo-Cell of selfmade & Fo-Twen)
Track is about everyday episodes, and how all are different. Lo starts it off, and comes tight. Tha hook stands out, im hella feelin tha dood singin over it. Fo-twen came tight, never had heard ither Lo or Fo before, but I was feelin em'. Cat Daddy finishes the track, and I was feelin him most. Im Lovin tha beat, definitely a tight ass track. 10/10
8. Not Another Word (skit)
53. seconds long but I let it play through cause it starts off tha next track...
9. Pay Attention
Track is dope, Im feelin tha beat and all sounds though out…Cat Daddy puts it down, Mr. Lowery chases with a dope verse also. Both are dope as fuck, all spit/flow well together. Hook is a deep/low screwy voice, sayin "pay attention to this world wide gangsta shit" different but tight...Staxxx ends with another sicc verse. One of my favorite tracks 10/10
10. Warfare (feat. Selfmade)
This is a faster type track, but sicc as fuck. Beside the track above feat Lo-cell, this is tha first time ive really got a listen for selfmade...I think ther are real tight, so ill look more into them. Everyone came reaaal tight, but I was feelin Mr. Lowery's verse most, tha pace of tha track fits his flow perfect. Hook isnt great, but tha track make up for it...sicc ass cut! 8/10
11. We Aint Your Ordinary
A slower beat, more chill to it...Stax has tha opening/hook, lays a cooh ass verse. Mr. Lowery comes in second with a some dope rhymes...Cat Daddy comes sicc also, track is more his style it seems...hook is tight, its sayin how they aint your ordinary playas/huslas/gangstas/thugs…hella feelin this cut. A good song to end tha album. 9/10
Overall – A -
This is one of tha dopest cds I picked up last year...Perfect amount of features, dope Ass beats/hooks, and Certified Playas put it down for their debut album! Cd seems a bit short, but not skipping any tracks, and feelin them all make this a quality album. All tracks except for 6 were produced by Baby Bubb. Beats are bumpin...album knocks from start to finish. As I said before J.Staxxx, Cat Daddy, & Mr. Lowery all flow well together, no one really out shines one another. Im definitely looking forward to Certified Playas next release...these guys are tops in my book. I would recommend this album to anyone/everyone
