Alright, for the past couple of days, my computer has been telling me that my CD-Rom/DVD Driver is missing and/or corrupt. I'm not able to play CDs, rip CDs, or anything. As a matter of fact, the D-drive doesn't even show up when I open up the "my computer" window.

I have a Dell Laptop, Latitude D520.
Here's the the CD-Rom Driver code if it helps.
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-T11N

How would I go about correcting this problem?

I got the similar problem with my Dell Inspiron 2200. I also got a problem with it not recognizing my hard drive, I think it is a loose connection because I can turn it on it's side, power on and then it works good until I turn it off again.

The CD Burner, I make sure it is seated good in the bay, then reboot and it usually works.

Does the CD drive show under My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager/ when you right click on My Computer?

Even without the driver the drive should show as unknown with a yellow icon.

Try this. My cousin had the same problem...and this worked for him. It can happen with certain burner software.

Good Luck!

1. Click on START button, the click on RUN
2. Enter REGEDIT and press enter
3. When REGEDIT starts, open up the following folders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Control
Class
{4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4. After clicking on {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right-hand side:
"Upperfilters"
"Lowerfilters"

Click on each of them, press DELETE and click YES.

Then close REGEDIT, shutdown & restart your PC
Make sure it says DVD/CD Rom at the top.
