CD Length?

I thought the maximum length a CD can run was still like 72 minutes or whatever it was last time I was involved in releasing an album.

I wanna put as much as possible on my compilation and I was recently told that you can get CD's pressed up to like 80 minutes or something. I'm not talkin' CD-R's, but manufactured CD's.

Anyone know what the max length is?

The maximum length is 99 minutes. There's no affect on quality but only newer cd players are able to read 99 minute cds. Reason being because the laser needs to move farther and that translates into a design modification of the drive mechanism.
