In response to recent tragedies across the country, Carmelo Anthony invited members of USA Basketball’s Men's and Women's National Teams, the Boys and Girls Clubs of LA, the Brotherhood Crusade, the L.A. Police Department and other community leaders to a conversation held in Los Angeles.
Joined by NBA Cares and the NBPA Foundation, Anthony and Catchings led discussions designed to engage the local community in candid conversations about the unique challenges we face, our shared responsibility to create change and meaningful ways we can work together.
Young people (ages 13-23), families, law enforcement and community leaders formed a group of nearly 200, which participated in intimate breakout discussions led by the Brotherhood Crusade where they candidly shared stories, addressed biases and discussed action oriented ways to help build stronger safer communities for all.
Coming out of the discussion, participants shared key learning's and tangible next steps/outcomes, and challenged all the participants and organizations to continue this work in their daily lives.
The media availability took place today, Monday, July 25 at Challengers Boys & Girls Club in Los Angeles.
