Anybody ever been to one? Anybody ever get a job because of one? It's been a long time for me, but I'm about to go to one. Trying to get back into the 9-5 grind, work on that 401K, get some benefits....the good shit.
been to a jobs fair that got me offers but I went elsewhere, job wise.
get lightweight suited and booted and get there as soon as the doors open in that beatch.

Damn right. I'm fresh, dressed, like a million bucks. It's 10 minutes from my house...I'll be there at least 20 minutes early...that's how I roll. Always early, never on time or late.
Nice ....not sure what we have in that field, but I know Cisco is on a major hiring spree right now, you should find a way to get your res over to them.
My degree covers almost everything within an organization...it's not limited to one specific field. I can work in marketing, admin, HR, finance, etc. etc.
I'm definitely eyeballing Cisco. I've been trying to get in there for a few months.
Hell yeah. I been out of work for a little over 2 months, on careerbuilder.com after you apply you can look how many other people applied for that job. You might find a posting thats 2 days old, apply, then see theres already been 250 applicants. It's real tough right now.
And a lot of the big companies are like that all the time. I applied at EBMUD and there were 1500 people testing for 4-6 positions.
I applied at Conoco Phillips and there were over 4000 people testing for 7-10 jobs.
I applied for PG&E and passed the initial test everyone has to take and got a call back and passed the test for the job I was applying for and never heard a thing after that.
I have a decent job right now, nothing that I would prefer to do forever, but pays the bills and pays slightly higher than your average $16-$18/hr jobs out there.
I've never been to a job fair though, how do they work?? Do they actually offer jobs right on the spot sometimes or is it just a collective place to go to apply to a bunch of places at one central location??
Man...FUCK that job fair. They had like 3 companies there that weren't even hiring. The Primerica guy tried to get me to set up an appointment with him. The guy at BD Biosciences told me the company had nothing for me without even looking at my resumé or asking me what I know. Then there was University of Phoenix and UC Santa Cruz trying to sign people up for school. Oh, and Intel was there...
The dude at BD pissed me off though. Very unprofessional...assuming 1. I can't learn anything. and 2. I don't know anything.
Me: I'm Ryan. I recently graduated with a BS in Business Management and I'm looking to get my foot in the door with a respected company.
BD Biosciences Recruiter: I'm sorry, I don't think we have anything for you. We are a tech company.
Me: Yea, I know. That's why I'm here.
BD Biosciences Recruiter: Yea, I'm sorry. I don't think we have anything that will work for you.
Try Verizon and apply online. Pay is good and your degree will help. Just about everything is sales here in upper cal so if you're into that shit it would work. The company has changed alot recently and it isn't as fun anymore but it pays the bills and the benefits are great. Personally I'm trying to finish my B.S. Asap on their money so I can go somewhere else.
Sydal just shoot me your resume when you have a chance I got plugs in several fortune 500 companies in silicon valley. I would def send it out to my network, & with a degree & the good word from me I am sure you'll get some calls.
