Yes, all sony car audio sucks. Alpine, Pioneer, some Kenwood are good for decks. JBL, MTX, PPI, Alpine, Crossfire, lots of good brands for amps. If you want some good subs for decent price get some JL Audio, like 12W4's or something. The Kicker L7 (Square ones) hit hella hard, as do Eclipse Titanium, but they are more expensive. Personally, I have some subs from a no-name company in Seattle but they win lots of awards and I have been really happy with em.

no but seriously, there's nothing wrong with sony decks. people just like to talk shit. check consumer reports if you dont believe me. Sony use quality parts for their decks; I use to work for a mobile electronics certification program (after I went to trade school for it).
sony subs are kinda bootsy.. but dude said he's looking for AFFORDABLE car audio.. yall talkin bout alpine, lanzar, PPI...that shit aint cheap
Im suprised someone said JBL. I use to love JBL. my whole system was jbl and let me tell you something. JBL amps and decks = 100% shit. but their sub are not bad AT ALL. they're hella cheap, but they pound. so if you find some nice jbl subs. get em.

Well with car audio you get what you pay for.
For decks Id go with kenwood, alpine, pioneer
For subs Id try any of the big name brands JL, Kicker, IDMAX. However, I would encourage you too look into RE, Diamond audio, Adire Audio. They arent as big but they are just as good quality wise.

Whatever you do if you get subs make sure the quality of the box is TOP TOP notch. If your box sucks ass your system will suck ass. Other than that just do some more reasearch. Go to a local sound place, not best buy or good guys. Im talking privately owned. They usually have fat ass setups with lots of brands to listen too.
