I was taught this back in school but totally forget and dont understand the reasoning behind it...my main question is,

why use the electorial college opposed to strictly a popular vote nation wide? What is the benefits of the electorial college opposed to a popular vote?

Thanks in advance

heres why bush won

people like most of us that live in highly pouplated areas interact with multi races and gays and other religions all the time. its no big deal for us. we see gays and its nothin to us. some guy standin on a corner yellin out his relgious belifes and we dont even turn our head or pay it no attension. were use to all of this shit.

go to them red counties and its a whole diffrent ball game. relgion and sexual prefrance and shit like that SCARES THE FUCK OUT OF THEM. if they walk down the street and see men kissin its the chat of the town. they gotta make 76 phone calls and yell out comments at them, cover their kids eyes and run in the other direction. if you dont agree with that areas main relgion its the same deal. and race is a big issue. they see mexicans and FREAK THE FUCK OUT. and nothing gets them goin more than interracial shit.

basiclly for us that live in areas with a large pouplation we see shit like that every day so we dont care. wed much rather worry about bills, and healthcare, and shit like that.

but not them their crazy.

but whats really fuckin crazy is go to bumfuck county in the south or mid america and you aint gonna find to many gays or antirelgious peope theri at all. so even though these things dont effect their areas they feel the need to protect us from ourselfs.

their just 20 years behind us is all.

At first, wasn't the electoral vote put in place by the "founding fathers" to give states a ratio of votes that correlated with the amount of slaves that each state had? I think I've read this...anyone know the origin of the electoral college?

I'm glad we still elect presidents based on an idea that was enacted for the purpose of counting slave votes...yeah, nothing's wrong with our system  ...I guess they figure we still need the electoral college to account for all the minority votes that get supressed in every election.

Its weird because you would think a state like New York would give thier vote to Bush do to the fact that the 9/11 attacks happened on thier soil and terror is a part of thier lives now. But people in New York are smarter than that.

Now you take a look at one of them red states in the middle of the country who will never get attacked by any act of terrorism and have probably never even seen a Muslim up close in real life, they give the vote to Bush. Thats some scary shit yall... there are so many people in America willing to give the power to a man who wants to go to war with a group of people that these middle-americans will never have been attacked by, or even come in contact with. Ignorance keeps us at war.

L Mac-a-docious was close. It was set fourth by the "founding fathers" because they didn't wan't to leave the power to elect into the hands of the common people, for one very simple reason. That is so we wouldn't elect an Adolf Hitler into office. You guys said it yourself, how dumb the American people are, it's no wonder why they do not have the power to elect.

L Mac-a-docious don't believe the link master just because he found something to his standards on the net.

The president is not elected by ballot or public voting process. The president is chosen by people who control the majority of the worlds finances. The president is chosen by those who have a monopoly when it comes to printing money. Presidents are chosen by members of the Council on Foreign Relations (C.F.R) Trillateral Commision (TLC) and Bilderbergers. Presidents are controlled by international bankers such as the Roths, Rocks, Duponts, Morgans and Li's......

Your measly vote is based on nothing and will never count. Sorry to bust your bubble buddy.
