Trading the open plains for the sprawling streets of Los Angeles, Call of Juarez: The Cartel presents a modern day twist to Ubisoft's western first-person shooter series.

Call of Juarez: The Cartel is the third game in Ubisoft's cowboy adventure series, far removed from the 2007 original and 2009's Bound in Blood. The game will take players from the streets of Los Angeles, California all the way to Juarez, Mexico, no doubt on the hunt for something important and/or worth a great deal of money.

We don't know much about the plot at this point. We know the game is coming to "next-gen consoles" and PC this summer and is being developed by Techland. All we have beyond that is a press release quote.

"Call of Juarez: The Cartel is an action-packed shooter game with a strong story, interesting characters and a wide variety of gameplay options," said Adam Novickas, director of marketing at Ubisoft. "The game will bring the best elements of the Wild West into modern times with a very gritty and relevant plot."

i wonder who is keeping them from making a full on cartel video game..
why they keep bullshitting in this crime genre. cool ideas, half assed products..

theres been hella mafia/yakuza/gangsta games. we need a cartel game.
also, there needs to be a sons of anarchy/outlaw motorcycle club game
"you start off as a no name hang around, looking to be a prospect in the city's oldest club. but then someone from that club killed your ol lady. you are forced to form your own club, The ___________ and get your revenge!! in stores July 4 2018 "

....and then BAM!

suprise ending, your a cop.

gatdammit driver for ps1, i loved the lead up to the ending but why oh why justify the crimes by being an officer? thats what happens because to many fucking idiots cant distinguish life from entertainmen.t.or not even that, they put a spotlight on the idiot and make it bigger than what it really is.

The ludicrously contrived controversy over Call of Juarez: The Cartel continues with news that some Mexican legislators want the game banned. Again, it's worth pointing out that all we've seen so far is some box art. That's enough for some government officials, apparently.

On both sides of the border, there has been a lot of controversy (and a jaw-dropping amount of presumption) surrounding the freshly released game. Legislators in the state of Chihuahua are said to be lobbying the Secretariat of Governance and the Secretariat of Economy to block sales of the game.

"Lots of kids say they want to be a hitman, because they are the ones that get away with everything," declared youth worker Laurencio Barraza. "This glorifies violence, as if victims were just another number or another bonus."

It's amazing how quickly we can go from a simple announcement to outright hysteria when it comes to videogames. There doesn't seem to be any other medium that goes from zero to ten overnight, but based on a sheer name alone, this seems to be the case with games
