why is it that the media potrays parts of LA like compton ,southcentral , inglewood and watts as ghettos. when I went out to cali I had to drive through many of those so called ghettos and to me they looked like polished suburia. (wtf) I just wanna know why cali is so quick to throw out the word ghetto when they aint never even seen one which they should be proud of. now i aint say cali is some fairy land but killa kali tends to extend the truth alot. I have to ask yall have you ever been to places like midwestern cities such as chicago st.louis detroit or eastcoast cities. yall have it made compared to other cities around the country better yet the world. let me know if Im wrong
When I started going to LA I used to say the same shit. "LA ain't shit." Cuz if you take a look at the hoods in South Modesto and compare them to LA it looks 100x worse here. But as nice as it looks compared to other places, shit pops off like a muthafucka over there too.
It's like I always tell people, LA didn't invent gangs, guns or crime. I used to kick it down there all flamed up with a Modesto hat, and I never once got hit up. I thought I was all hard at the time, but now I realize that I just didn't run into the wrong muthafucka. I got a homie who used to live in the Avenues hood and he said he didn't even know it was a bad neighborhood until he saw it on Gangland.
I know people from down south who moved up here thinkin they're the shit and now they're dead. I know foos from up here who won't even go to LA because they're scared they'll get shot. I know a lady who moved from LA to South Modesto and hates it because there are too many gang members here. I know another person who moved from South Central to South Modesto and she likes it here. It all depends on who you ask.
In Modesto the areas that look the dirtiest, but at the same time calm and serene, even country, are the worst neighborhoods. They are on the outskirts of the city with no sidewalks, few streetlights, and a shitload of crime. Sometimes people might see a house in South Modesto that has sidewalks, lights etc, and think it's all good, until there's a shootout in the middle of the street right in front of you. I know a few people this has happened to.
To say LA ain't ghetto because it looks clean is wrong. Last time I went down there a homie took me on a hood tour, and places you wouldn't even think were bad were deep as fuck with gangsters. Just because they drive a sweeper through the street and water down the sidewalks doesn't mean you won't get shot walking through those streets...
