Rapper C-Murder Convicted of Murder
2 hours, 35 minutes ago

By DOUG SIMPSON, Associated Press Writer

GRETNA, La. - Rapper C-Murder was convicted Tuesday of second-degree murder in the nightclub shooting of a 16-year-old boy.

The charge carries an automatic life sentence.

Relatives of C-Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, began sobbing as the verdict was read and were escorted out of the courtroom. Women were heard screaming in the hallway outside.

Miller is the younger brother of rapper Percy Miller Jr., who is known as Master P.

Their father, Percy Miller Sr., said the family would seek an appeal. "My son didn't do that," he said.

Steve Thomas was beaten and fatally shot Jan. 12, 2002, during a fight outside the Platinum Club in Harvey.

"Now Steve can rest in peace," his father, George, said after the verdict.

Assistant District Attorney Douglas W. Freese said he was satisfied with the verdict: "I believe the killer has been put where he belongs."

Defense attorney Ronald J. Rokosky did not speak to the media following the verdict.

Before they began deliberations Tuesday, jurors were told they could find Miller, 30, innocent of second-degree murder but guilty of manslaughter in Thomas' death.

But Assistant District Attorney Roger Jordan urged them to convict on the more serious charge. "Miller's a murderer. He's a killer. He took away something you can't give back — Steve's life," Jordan said.

Two prosecution witnesses testified that Miller beat and shot Thomas. Nine defense witnesses said he had nothing to do with the killing, but gave different descriptions of his clothes and of his whereabouts within the club.

Rokosky argued that investigators botched the case, finding only two witnesses who could identify Miller as the gunman out of 150 people in the club.

LOL foos sayin he aint a KILLER with a name like C-Murder . I hope they do lock his ass up, im willing to bet he did do it. Especilly when people who said he "didint" do it gave diffrent discriptions of wear he really was and what he was really doing. Huh thats kinda fucked, only 16 years old and a young ass home boy got his life takin away. Theres no coming back from that, and this so called C-Murder's familia wanna act like theres no way hes a killer. If he aint a Killer with that name then he must be the fakeist bitch ever.

I bet just because of his rap name, the jury already had the verdict in their heads, cause you know they most likely used that against him. Don't know if he did this, but I do know that when the kid got killed, C-Murder was out on bail after being arrested for Attempted Murder!!!

Either way it's fucked up, I feel for the family. One son dead, now one doing life in prison...only Silkk and P left.

I dont know about the part about a fake bitch, but its very possible thing he did it. I just think its a sad thing to see a young black man who had an opportunitiy to change his life. A man who stayed in the RICH whose brother took it to that major level with no assistance from the gates. An admirable situation with a sad outcome to a member of the Miller family. My regards and best wishes......

At this point, it's anyone's call whether or not he is the culprit of the crime. C may or may not have done it, but based on the evidence it would be hard to say since it is true that his name may have been used to lean the scale against his favor as well as his previous murder attempt record.

If he is truly the murderer, then history indefinetely repeats itself! His younger brother Kevin was murdered young, and now C (possibly) has become the murderer himself! If that is the case, only time will tell how little romeo handles issues (hopefully the smart way instead of the stupid way)!

OJ Simpson won. It's all on the lawyers and if they can create a reasonable doubt. OJ had ALL the evidence towards him and he WON!! It's all on the council these days. My girl got 4 years, convicted of 3 charges, 2 felonies, and 1 strike, all of which she was NOT guilty of....
