The salesperson at Amoeba assured me that Tha Dogg Pound was on every song, but I listened to it and they are only on one song, and on that song Daz and Kurupt split a verse. The rest was just this guy rapping with a huge French accent, sounding like Steve Martin trying to say "hamburger" in the Pink Panther.

Nah, they for sure got gangs in Europe, just like anywhere else around the world. They just got there own thing though, so we may not be used to their type of gangs but they do exist over there.

More like street gangs in general. There are dudes who claim "hoods" etc., but they don't really have rival gangs to bang on. For example German Gangsta rap got very big in the last years with dudes selling gold and platinum albums, but some of them call themselves killers, gangstas, etc., but to me they are to the most hustlers. Selling drugs. There are gangsters, but those I'd consider in the Mafia (Italian, Russian, Albanian, Maroccan, etc.) or Hells Angels/Bandidos.
Now you have all these youngsters acting hard in their music and on youtube videos, claiming to be killers, but it's a joke. There was/is a reason for street gangs in the US. Racism, Poverty, Police Brutality, etc., in Germany the welfare system makes sure you have a decent apartment, clothes, food, furniture, TV, etc.! The police in Germany is also a joke.
I mean I sold drugs when I was younger, a lot of my homies did as well, some did time for extortion, others just for beating up people. But this had never something to do with gangs or being a gangster. That shit started when German Rappers started the German Gangsta Rap that is similar to American Gangsta Rap.
