Another bus driver gets his ass whooped in the Mil Town

2 arrested in beating of school bus driver
Milwaukee police have arrested two boys and are seeking a third person suspected of boarding a school bus and assaulting the driver this afternoon in retaliation for a fight that occurred on the bus Monday.

The three suspects immediately began beating the driver after boarding the bus about 2:50 p.m. at a regular stop near N. 95th St. and W. Sheridan Ave., Milwaukee police Lt. Ray Banks said.

The driver was not seriously injured, Banks said.

The suspects "apparently weren't happy with the way the bus driver handled (Monday's) incident on the bus," Banks said.

One of the boys taken into custody today is related to a girl who was involved in Monday's fight, but police were still trying to determine their exact relationship, Banks said.

Banks was not sure of the girl's age but said most students on the bus are about 12 years old.

The driver is a 58-year-old man who has worked for Lamers Bus Lines Inc. for at least a few years, said Dean Brown, general manager of the firm's Milwaukee terminal.

The bus was taking students home from Fletcher Elementary School, Brown said.

Police have not yet determined the charges that will be filed, Banks said.

Man shot after exchanging 'dirty looks'
A 25-year-old man was shot in the lower back after exchanging what police called dirty looks with another driver while traveling down Sherman Boulevard.

Police said the man was shot in the 4400 block of N. Sherman Blvd. about 7 p.m. while driving northbound. After exchanging looks with the driver in the car next to him, the second driver pulled out a gun and fired a shot into the victim's car, police said.

The man is in stable condition this morning.

In a separate overnight shooting, a 25-year-old man was shot in the chest.

The man told police about 1:45 a.m. that he was shot in the area of N. 24th St. and W. Kilbourn Ave. Investigators are still checking out the man's story after finding no evidence of a shooting in that particular area.

He is also in stable condition.
