I used to use Cubase to create music in, but now, I'm not able to load any of my older tracks, instead I get the error msg "not enough mixer channels". Now I know you've been using Cubase to make your music with, would you happen to have any idea what's going on with my setup, or what I can do to fix my problem? It used to work great for me, but now I'm afraid to use it anymore, since I've lost so many great tracks due to this problem. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Only thing I can think of would be to check on various Cubase forums... I luckily haven't come across that problem my self.

I would hate to see this happen to anyone else.

I think it might have something to do with the fact that I have Reason installed on my system and it might automatically open up the rewire mixer channels, anyway, I'll definitely go check out the cubase forums. I've actually been through there before, I just wanted to ask familiar faces before I ran through it. Thanks for the response.

Well, when I originally made the tracks I used a few VST instruments/effects, and I think it's having problems reloading those tracks with the VSTs in them. The tracks that I only had one or two VSTs in, it loaded no problem. It seems as though it's just not letting me load up more than a few VSTs at a time.

What had happened was that I had made my tracks a long time ago, and so a lot of other programs have been installed and uninstalled since then, and when I tried to load up the original files a few of them gave me the error msg. So basically, I'm just scared to use Cubase to record anything in, until I get to the root of the problem.

They worked perfectly the first few times I pulled them up. In fact I have the wavs of the mixdown, it's just the mixdowns on the drums and some of the sounds were pretty bad, so I wanted to go back in and fix it. When I finally decided to go back and load them up, they no longer would load.

I'll try setting the number of tracks in audio system and see what happens. Thanks

I have posted this before and tried all suggestions that was given to me and none of them worked, so I hit up a few other forums. It seems that this problem tends to happen on systems that have certain versions of Cubase with Reason. I just need to figure out how I can relinquish it.

WHEN I HAD REASON INSTALLED IT CAME WITH A PATCH. IF I DIDNT INSTALL THE PATCH IT WOULD CAUSE CUBASE TO WIG OUT BUT NOT LIKE THAT. IF YOUR RUNNING REASON VERSION 1 YOU MIGHT NEED TO INSTALL THAT PATCH (IF THATS THE CORRECT PATCH). MAYBE A DLL FILE WAS ERASED OR SOMETHING. I DONT KNOW IM JUST THROWING THINGS OUT THERE PIMP. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO NOW IS BACK UP EVERYTHING AND DO A CLEAN INSTALL (of cubase).

hope it works out for you pimp.

:H:

ps have you contacted steinberg to see if they had a patch?

From other forums (steinberg forums as well) all I've gotten was to use that Reason Rewire fix that comes with Reason. The only problem is, it didn't seem to do what it was supposed to... in fact, i couldn't even use Reason after I used it.

Right now, I'm happy with my setup, it would be nice to get Cubase and my VSTs working again, but I'm gonna have to hold out until I build my next computer. I don't want to mess up what I'm using now.
