WICHITA—A confrontation that started in a bar Thursday night ended with a chainsaw and a car chase, Wichita police said today. Police are still looking for two men who were involved.
A group of five people at the Caboose Bar, 4311 W. Central, got in a confrontation with two men, said Wichita police Lt. Doug Nolte. Later when the group of four men and one woman left the bar at about 2 a.m., they reinitiated contact with the two men in the parking lot, police said.
Nolte said the two men assaulted the group, and one of those men pulled a chainsaw from the back of a 1990s white GMC pickup truck.
The group got into a vehicle to leave, and the truck followed. When the men and woman realized they were being chased, they pulled over in the 100 block of North Tracy, Nolte said.
One of the men in the group, a 35-year-old, got out to try to confront the two men when the truck rammed the group's vehicle. The 35-year-old reported the truck striking him as he exited, which caused minor injuries, according to the incident report.
No other group members were injured.
The truck left before officers arrived. Police arrested the 35-year-old on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to the incident report.
Police have limited information about the two men in the white truck, Nolte said. Anyone with information about the incident should call 911.
