Schools are very reactionary these days and, in some cases, that’s well-deserved. Here’s one that definitely isn’t: An 11-year-old got detention for farting on the school bus, accidentally.
Eleven-year-old Christian Summers was having a usual bus ride to school when he claims he accidentally farted. Summers says that, in his family (as in many others), farts often get a laugh. So when he laughed at his anal faux pas, the bus driver took offense.
According to Fox’s Phoenix affiliate, Summers was given a detention slip that reads,”Thinks it’s funny to pass gas while on the van. I’ve told him it’s not funny, nor polite to the others in the van. While others scream, he laughs” and was given one hour of detention.
A small price? Perhaps. But should Summers get a second offense, he could be get detention at school for four or five days.
Summers says that he’s now afraid of passing gas on the bus out of fear of the repercussions but, that if he does have a bout of gas in the future, he’ll do his best to let it slip quietly.
