Man, fucking Gamboa. Easily one of my biggest disappointments over recent years. Such unreal natural talent, crazy potential. Wasted away, really. Joan Guzman is my other one.

Lemeuix looked alright on the undercard. He actually got rocked a couple times, once at least his leg buckled. Everyone has to have a feeling hes on the undercard for a reason - they are planning on making the Canelo fight and skipping Golovkin again. Hope not.

Chavez is really disappointing. I mean, of course he's outclassed and we knew it was a mismatch from the start but you'd hope he'd at least push Canelo, give him some tough rounds. But more often than not Chavez is retreating and not coming forward, even when Canelo goes to the ropes he's hesitant.

But that's the whole problem with this fight, fighting a guy who hadn't done anything relevant in years, straight to a PPV. If it was a regular HBO fight, ok cool. $70 though for Chavez who's last relevant fight was against Fonfara a couple years ago where Chavez got KOd lol. That's not good.

But I'm sure it sold tons of PPVs regardless because it's Canelo and Cinco de Mayo weekend, so they'll justify it and call it a great success!

I most interested in the post fight interview. I think Canelo will say he's ready to fight Golovkin now, in September, so that will be dope. 2017 already has had some dope fights with a bunch on the horizon.

Gotta hand it to Golden Boy/Canelo. You see how smart they were? Announce the Golovkin fight minutes after and immediately everyone has already forgotten about the PPV ripoff with Chavez and how shitty of a fight it was lol. Gotta hand it to them, that was fucking brilliant. I mean I didn't pay for that shit myself, but if I did I would be pissed.

He did duck him though and that is documented. He literally dropped the belt rather than fight him or did you forget already? Signing the fight now is great, better late than never, but it doesn't erase what he did prior.

And now that finally Golovkin looked mortal in the ring at age 35 against Jacobs in a very close fight, suddenly Canelo is ready for the challenge, amazing! That's what everyone was saying too right after the Jacobs fight, people were saying watch Canelo fight him now. Sure enough.

50/50 fight man. And not necessarily because of skill but because of their styles and attributes (fantastic match-up stylistically for us fans)- it means both guys are going to take a lot of damage and in a fight like that where neither guy is willing to back down against legit power punchers who are both willing to take damage, it could be they fight 10 times and each win 5. Just depending on who dishes out the most punishment the fastest and may simply boil down to who gets​ hurt first.

This is one of those fights where it could be super close then suddenly a big punch lands and changes the course of the fight. Each guy has a damn good chin too, so it could be prolonged punishment. I can see a trilogy happening (if Golovkin wins the first fight that is). Could very well be an instant classic and damn it if boxing doesn't need this bad right now (after so many lackluster PPV events in recent years Floyd-Pac, etc.).

Yup 100. Boxing does need this fight tho. And a trilogy would be dope if it is earned by the fighters and not the judges pushing for it if it does go 12. Which I think a fight between them might not go. Im not to hyped on GGG especailly after his last fight agaisnt jacobs. Canelo said in the post fight interview he carried Chaves Jr thru the fight to give the fans they money's worth. I know he could have ended it if he wanted to. But overall excited for this fight. To happen.

That's the hustle though. You think Canelo does what he did last night against Jacobs? No way. I'm not saying he can't beat Jacobs but he doesn't demolish him for 12 rounds while Jacobs does absolutely nothing.

I'm just glad the fight is happening. I've always thought it'd be a good fight which is why I never understood why they delayed making the fight so long. This fight doesn't do anymore money this September than it would've last September.
