Whats the deal with Andre Ward? Right now the 160 and 168lb divisions are holding it down in the ring, and he's nowhere to be found. Obviously the man turned pro after getting a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics and the media was all over him, sayin he's the next RJJ (well maybe that's a stretch).
Now its 2007 a few months away from being 2008 and he hasnt faced ANYONE with any real recognition since his first Pro debut against Chris Molina. I might sound slightly adamant when it comes to him being a big disappointment and that's with good reason. I've seen him fight a few times in San Jose and every time they hype him up like we're watching the next big thing - but he's not. His trainer (his uncle) is leading him nowhere. He says he's taking it slow with Ward and doing things on their own pace but maybe he's forgotten that in that division, unless ur a Bernard Hopkins, boxing is a young man's game. Granted Ward is only 23 but how many more years can he go until he wants to gain real experience, and then gradually build up to a championship bout?
Obviously he isnt a regular on ESPN's Friday Night Fights and that shout be a red flag. So here goes a list of the ppl he's fought (1 of which he was put on the canvas against) and then the ppl that are out there that he hasnt even mentioned...
his opponents:
2007- Dhafir Smith
Julio Jean
Derrick Findley
Andy Kolle
Kendall Gould
Darnell Boone *
Glenn LaPlante
Christopher Holt
Ben Aragon
Roy Ashworth
Kenny Kost
2004- Chris Molina
People he needs to aim for, and shoul've touched gloves with...
Jermain Taylor
Edison Miranda
Arthur Abraham
Kassim Ouma
Kelly Pavlik
Sergio Mora <<I wanna see him fight
Ike Quartey
Allen Green
Daniel Santos
Jaidon Codrington
