Review:
When I reviewed Errelevent’s “Redefinition” album last year, I mentioned how I was surprised that beats from a producer I had never heard of, Equivalent Exchange, stood out on an album that also had production from Cozmo and Rob Lo, two of my favorite beat makers. I was excited to see that Errelevent’s new project was entirely produced by Equivalent Exchange and my high expectations were met.
The opening track, Take You Higher, sets the tone for the album with a solid beat, a perfect hook, and Errelevent showing off his skills on the mic. The beat on J. Stalin assisted Pull Up To The Front took a few listens to get used to, but is amazing and sounds like nothing else I’ve heard. On Up In Here, Errelevent and Stik Gilatine tell stories of women on nights out. The two Latin lyricists sound good together on this track. All Right is a track anyone who likes to go out drinking should relate to and has another ridiculous beat. On Me is another track that focuses on the topic of drinking and smoking.
Destroy & Rebuild is easily one of the best produced albums of the year and Errelevent is great at putting rhymes together. What I would like to see him do in the future is expand the topics he raps about. This is sonically a great album and it’s free, so there is no excuse not to listen.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
