MUNCIE, Ind -- A mother allegedly used a red crayon or pen to scratch the word, "bitch" on her son's forehead before sending him off to school. School authorities reported the supposed abuse to police.
The 9-year-old son of Sherri Feuston told police that his mother held him down, sat on his chest, and scratched the derogatory term on his forehead while her boyfriend held his feet down. The boy also reported that his mother had used a belt to discipline him, had struck him in the eye, and snapped a towel at him.
"She said she was just messing around," said Delaware County sheriff's investigator Nancy Marvin. Feuston said they were only playing and denied that she was doing anything to hurt the 6-year-old in the incident which was also witnessed by Feuston's 11-year-old and 2-year-old daughters.
Feuston was preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent, battery and criminal confinement. She was held in the Delaware County jail on $20,000 bond and is scheduled to be in court for a hearing on Monday; all three of her children are currently in the care of Feuston's grandparents.
