Now that we're all agreed that the classic G-funk/mobb beat sound has been preserved in Europe in 2013 (Touch funk, docc free, VS prod etc) I thought you all need to know that Norway's finest G-funk producer Big Ice dropped his brand new double album yesterday. The title of this year's album is På Min West Coast Shit, which should be something like On My West Coast Shit, and is his tribute to the classic west coast sound that we all love and miss. Well, tribute is the wrong word because this is the sound that he loves and has produced/perfected since the late 90s/early 2000s.
Like many European producers he has a strong history of production for US artists. Big Ice has provided beats to west coast and southern rappers like Assassin, Jay Tee, Messy Marv, Cool Nutz, Bullet and not to forget his effort on Baby Bash's tha smokin nephew (Image of a pimp). He also has a beat on the brand new Celly Cel album. Here in Norway he has released three solo albums the last years which featured both Norwegian and US rappers. On this new project the majority is by Norwegian rappers, so there is a language barrier for all international listeners but needless to say, you should all be able to enjoy these dope ass beats.
the album is on iTunes but hardcopies can be ordered from Big Ice himself bigiceproductions[a]hotmail.com (damn text editor fucks up the email hyperlink LOL). Be sure to hit him up before it's gone. Limited pressing as with most underground releases these days...
