azryda, don't really trip on homeboy "advice" he really got no idea what he talkin bout.
Dezepan is an anticonvulsant, similar to Clonazepam.
Anticonvulsants aren't usually prescribed to specifically stop seizures, though that is one of their main uses. They are chiefly mood stabilizers and used to tried depression and bipolar disorder.
Sometimes people take combinations of anticonvulsants and antidepressants, as it helps even out the mood a bit more, especially when people experience erratic behavior on only one of the drugs.
I have dealt with alot of bipolar people in my life, and my first and foremost advice is to work out the meds balance that works for you. There are many, many options in medication, everything from taking GABA
and herbal complements to antidepressants and anticonvulsants.
Oftentimes people with bipolar disorder would rather not take meds and try and deal with it themselves - and many times this is difficult or near impossible. You can really end up making big mistakes or doing things you regret without help. I'm not saying meds are a magic pill, but you need to either be taking meds or be in therapy - at least be doing something. Bipolar can be difficult and extremely frustrating, and my best of wishes to you homeboy.
My advice is talk with your doctor while taking meds. Ask him about every and any possible combo / medication out there for you to try. If you don't like the way you feel on one, you can always switch it up and try something different.
A very close homie of mine has been battling bipolar his whole life, and he feels like after he got his meds worked out, and a few strategies to deal with himself, his life completely changed directions. It's been my joy to see homeboy doin well for himself and with a completely new outlook on life.
Try and see if you can get in some counseling as well - talking to a professional is very important...I wouldn't recommend just taking meds alone. Don't be afraid to tell your doctor or people around you when you don't feel like shit is working out. Don't be scared to ask for help man...for real.
