Play It Again, Eddie Murphy
Tuesday September 9 9:49 AM ET

Los Angeles (E! Online) - There are two things most people remember about the Beverly Hills Cop movies: Eddie Murphy as Detective Axel Foley and the flick's Grammy-winning theme song.

Well, when Beverly Hills Cop IV goes into production, director Brett Ratner promises both will be back.

"It's a whole new interpretation," Ratner tells me.

Composer-producer Harold Faltermeyer's synth-pop theme will get an update, but not too much. "Why change that song?" Ratner says.

He goes so far as to say that one of the "biggest problems" with director Michael Mann's movie adaptation of Miami Vice with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx in 2006 was the missing iconic theme song.

"I said to [Mann], 'Why didn't you have it?' " Ratner says. "He said, 'We're doing something new.' That's like doing Mission Impossible without the theme song."

Production on BHC IV will reportedly begin next year with a 2010 release date, or 25 years after the first installment of the franchise.

Ratner is also busy putting together a DVD about the music videos he's directed for people like Madonna, Jessica Simpson and Miley Cyrus, to name a few. "They're interviewing all the singers I've worked with," Ratner says. "I'm worried."

Rambo 5 (is on).

Rambo V is on! Sep. 10, 2008

Source: THR Buzz up!vote now by: Ammon Gilbert

This tidbit of information was actually buried deep within another article concerning the changing of hands of department heads over at Lionsgate a few weeks back. Since we don't really give too much of a f*ck about who's the department head of what studio, we skipped it... little did we know a tasty morsel was waiting for us inside!

Alli Shearmur and Mike Paseornek are now both co-presidents of production over at Lionsgate--after talking themselves up, they let it be known of a few projects that are currently in the works, including CONAN, WARRIOR, and... RAMBO V!

Seriously, this was mentioned just like this: On the development horizon are "Warrior," which Gavin O'Connor co-wrote and will direct; "Conan," a fast-tracked project with multiple scripts in the works; "Severance Package," with Brett Simon writing and directing; "Rambo V," to be written and directed by Sylvester Stallone...

Nice! Since RAMBO kicked my ass and everyone who saw it, not to mention the other three films of the amazing series, color me f*cking stoked to see John J. Rambo back in action! But as he went home at the end of the last film, one can only wonder where his adventures will take him next. Battling militia in the Arizona desert? Oh please oh please don't have him fight in the desert again...

RAMBO V--is the world ready? Are you?

Spidey 4... and 5?

Ever since SPIDER-MAN 3 was released to gigantic profits and inconsistent fan response, everyone has wondered what Sony would do -- obviously they have wanted to make more movies/money with the webbed wonder, but would director Sam Raimi, in the face of so many new offers, be interested in continuing the SPIDER-series past a trilogy? Would Tobey Maguire ejaculate more wrist-jizz? Would the studio just recast the main roles and do a "soft reboot"?

Fear not, True Believers. If Hollywood scuttlebutt-sniffer Nikki Finke has her inside-track facts straight, both principals will be back -- possibly twice! Finke says that both Raimi and Maguire have secretly (well, it was) agreed to return, and the studio wants to do two new movies back-to-back, due to cost efficiency and logistics.

The story (or stories) will be based on whatever screenwriter Jamie Vanderbilt (ZODIAC) has been cooking up for the past year or so, and although no specifics as to the villain(s) is verified, the Lizard is popular speculation. There is also the question of whether Kirsten Dunst would return (or be requested) for the role of Peter Parker's droopy-lidded girlfriend Mary Jane Watson.

Finke also mentions that the SPIDER-MAN Broadway show is apparently going ahead, and that writers have been assigned to the unnecessary VENOM spinoff film. Read all the details RIGHT HERE

Bruce Campbell Talks 'Evil Dead 4'... Again

I've pretty much lost all hope that we'll ever see an EVIL DEAD 4, and it just gets under my skin every time I see a new story that contradicts itself. Sam Raimi, Red Raimi and Bruce Campbell have pretty much told us everything we can think of, ranging from "it is going to happen eventually" to "we're focusing on THE EVIL DEAD remake right now" - none of which has happened. I'm still bitter over FREDDY VS JASON VS ASH not happening, and it's even more frustrating that Raimi doesn't just do this for the fans. Do we really need DRAG ME TO HELL? I would take a crappy EVIL DEAD sequel over that any day. But enough from me, read on for Bruce Campbell's latest "update"...

“When he’s ready, I’m ready,” star Bruce Campbell told MTV News referring to director Sam Raimi and THE EVIL DEAD remake. But what about the possibilities of an EVIL DEAD 4?

“Nobody knows anything,” he said. “I mean if we were really smart [though], we’d go back to a handheld movie and shoot it in 16mm and find someplace in the middle of nowhere. And have a crew of 10 people. If we were smart.”

And although Raimi refuses to give the fans what they want, Campbell knows they should be getting it.

“The beauty of the ‘Evil Dead’ movies is that you’re only appealing to one demographic and that’s people who like horror movies. And you just have to please them. You don’t have to appeal to the studio. You’re already pleasing them by giving them part 4.”

Now back to accepting the fact that it will never happen... until next "update".

Inside Halloween sequel Aug. 25, 2008

Source: Rue Morgue Magazine by: Mike Catalano

Over the weekend, my horror-loving cousin got to meet Tyler Man who played the adult Michael Myers in ROB ZOMBIE’S HALLOWEEN. Upon learning this, the first thing I asked was, “did he mention anything about a sequel.” Sadly, my cousin said, “no.” However, today, as luck or coincidence may have it… I came across some news that actually got me an answer! Check this shit out!

A couple months ago I mentioned that Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo (the team behind the brilliant INSIDE) may have been in talks with Bob Weinstein and Dimension about continuing what Mr. Zombie had started. Now, thanks to an article in Rue Morgue Magazine, we have further confirmation that this is indeed the case! Here’s a brief snippet of what was said:

"it's a proposition we couldn't refuse,” Maury explained and added that he and Bustillo are well aware of Zombie's re-imagining of Michael Myers and they're out to put their stamp on the character, not copy what came before them. "Therefore, our vision will be done with utmost respect, with a continuity of [Zombie's] work but also a real evolution of the world he set in place."

Hell yes!!! I hope they’re speaking the truth and the notion of seeing Michael Myers again on the big screen is closer than we think! I already can’t friggin’ wait! To read the full interview, simply grab yourself a copy of the September issue of Rue Morgue Magazine when it hits stands around next week!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Malcom McDowell (Loomis) and Tyler Mane (Michael Myers) are signed on for two more sequels.

No word on wether or not Scout Taylor Compton will be reprising her role as Laurie, but I'm hoping she does.

SO THERE GONNA MAKE A SEQUEL TO ROB ZOMBIES REMAKE BUT WITH NO ROB ZOMBIE?
I ACTUALLY THOUGHT ROB ZOMBIE DID HALLOWEEN SOME JUSTICE BY ADDING MORE DEPTH TO THE CHARACTER OF MICHAEL MYERS. I DIDNT LIKE HOW HE STRAYED FROM THE ORIGINAL ENDING BUT, SOUNDS LIKE THEY JUST GONNA FUCK IT UP.
