What's up everybody!
I have been running my studio with a PC. (1.8 athlon processor + Cubase VST24). I have never had a problem with my set up, and I love Cubase!
I recently purchased Cubase SX 2.0. I am also going to be getting a new laptop to run my set up. I have been checking into the Dell 6000, but someone told me that the hard drives crash often. That same person told me to look into the Sony Vaio laptops.
I know a lot of you are using MAC computers + Protools, but my Cubase is PC and I love the quality that I get out of it. Could you all suggest some reliable PC laptops for studio work? All feedback is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

^I've seen some of those at sweetwater, they are ill but cost some money. Shit any computer will do as long as it has a big hard drive, lots of RAM and has a fast clockspeed.

Thanks for the info Filthy Rich and Jayda650. I will check into these links. @Jayda650: Thanks for responding to my PM about audio engineering. I decided to continue with the Recording Arts program at CSU Chico because I am already 2 years into it (2 yrs. to go!). I checked into your school online and it looks like a great school. Keep up the good work. Good luck!

I am planning on doing a lot of mobile recording. Do you think that laptops are inferior to desktops? I have always owned desktops, but I like the oportunities and convenience that a laptop would provide. Let me know your thoughts. Much appreciation...

Laptops have their limitations, like the fact that upgrades are a bitch and repairs tend to be hella expensive compared to desktops.

If I had to have a laptop though, I'd have to switch up and get one of those new Powerbooks.

Exactly.

I run pro tools and cubase sx on a pc and I love it. What you should do is google " DIGI DUC " hit the forum for digi 002,002r,mbox for windows os and read the best lap top thread. I know you aren't running pro tools but, pro tools requires STABILITY and power from your computer. If you can get a computer to run a stable pro tools setup, you'll be able to run anything else.

I've seen mobile recording pc's before. It can be done just make sure you have the right tower and rack. What interface are you using to record?

I am using an Audiophile 2496 Soundcard, AKG 3000 mic, Behringer preamp. Sound quality is good, but I am going to jump higher. My goal is a Neumann u87 mic and a Avalon 737 preamp. Thanks for the input everybody. Maybe I will just get a souped-up desktop?
