$400 not bad I noticed this though....

The outputs of the ADC&DAC2000 are referenced to -10 dBu rather than the +4 dBu professional standard, which means the unit will be headroom-shy in a professional-equipment environment. That and the unbalanced outputs are doubtless the results of efforts to keep the price of the system low. On the other hand, ST Audio does make costlier external converter boxes that have balanced inputs and outputs.

Makes me think that I will need an adaptere to boost the levels and or balance the outputs..

when he says DAC AND ADCB HE MEANS (DIGITAL TO ANALOG CONVERTERS) AND (ANALOG TO DIGITAL CONVERTERS)

GO TO THE STUDIO FORUM AND CHECK OUT MY AUDIO TRACK I RECORDED IT WITH A RODE NTK MIC AND VERY POOR ADC ~DAC CONVERTER IN MY SOUND CARD BUT CHECK IT OUT YOU WILL SEE THE KIND OF SOUND YOU CAN GET WITH A LOW BUDGET ADC CONVERTER SOUNDS TIGHT STILL IF YOU ASK ME.

Im looking for a computer setup.. Motif > USB > Comp
Cubase, or Logic with a ( ???? Soundcard) and a (preamp) I will most likely get a external pre amp but as far a multitrack systems stictly comp for me.

My main goal is one external bay from the comp sound card with all the ports I need and my pre to hook into the inputs on that unit..

Mid-Hardcore pre amps:

Monitors , if you don't got monitors your gonna need them to mix:

http://www.zzounds.com/love.music?p=p.NHTA10&z=1541978614016 <- this is a big bang for the buck

or....

Remember that your mic is only as good as your preamp and soundcard, if you have a shity-allright mic, a decent pre-amp and a good soundcard, and you know the basics of mixing your quality will be aight. If you have a good mic, a good preamp and a dope soundcard, and you know how to mix, your quality should match some of the best.

BTW: There is no best preamp and soundcard out there, they all have there +'s and -'s , if you want an awnser to that, go ask a engineer thans been in the business for over 20 years, he/she can give you an educated guess from time and expirience with equipment, otherwise, thats an impossible question buddie.
